Who does he think he is. Like he could change how I felt, nobody can. They deserve everything coming their way, I'll keep my word of course but only if Maddison does too.

"Hey can you get up, stop being so lazy we're going to the store." Great didn't know my dad was back from work, daddy issues was one thing Jamie and I used to relate to.

My dad and I got into the car, him in the drivers seat with me in the passenger. This was a first, he usually never gets groceries usually he'd tell my mom to. The car ride there and entering the store was quiet but that was normal, he never cared much but I didn't mind at all I would mostly listen to music when I was around him. Today I was listening to Good Luck, Babe! by Chappell Roan one of my favourite artists.

As we entered there was an interesting girl that caught my eye, specifically her hair. It was cool, short but dyed dark blue. She wore grey ripped jeans with a white camisole top, to be honest she was quite pretty.

"Stop staring at that girl or you'll look like one of those gay freaks." My dad didn't look at me but his eyebrows were scrunched together that made his face look angry.

"She just has a cool style that's all." I avoided meeting his gaze as to not make him more upset with me.

"Well she's probably part of the weirdo club. Looking eccentric and all." He came up closer to me and whispered in my ear.

"You're not apart of that thing are you?" His tone was calm but in that moment I was filled with fear.

"No I'm not." Three simple words barely escaped my mouth.

"Oh hey it's my girlfriend." Someone put their arm around my shoulder as they spoke to my father.

"Hm boyfriend? good. Talk amongst yourselves I'll go find some stuff." He took the cart and walked past us.

"Why would you do that Joseph." He took his arm off me as quickly as possible.

"I get why you always pick on Jamie, you envy her. The fact that she's out of the closet and isn't scared even though she knows what her dad is thinking of all this." He had a smug grin played on his lips which made me cross my arms and roll my eyes.

"You don't know what you're talking about, I'm not a freak." I turned to face him fully.

"Huh you're like your dad. If you want to be happy then be proud of who you are, you'll always pretend to be someone you're not if you don't. Yeah I hate you but nobody should be treated lowly for being themselves." He walked away while I tried to see if anybody I knew heard.

I'll never to admit to him that he's right, but what he said wasn't far off from the truth. Whatever.

Jamie

"Hey Joseph, where'd you run off to?" He seemed serious or deep in thought, it was hard to tell what he was feeling right now. Unfamiliar territory.

"Just ran into someone I knew that's all. Anyways we ready to pay?" His tone and the way his body moved didn't seem like what he said was true, I didn't want to pry so I just brushed it off.

"So what do you want to watch later?" We we're waiting in line to pay so it was a perfect time to ask.

"Uhh do you want to watch the new Minions movie?"

"Yea definitely." Once we finished buying our snacks we met with all our friends at Jules house.

While walking towards the door we we're met with Kayla and Allie. They we're holding hands carrying a bag, I'm guessing snacks was inside of course.

"Hey lovebirds wait up!" Both Kayla and Allie waved at us as we ran up to catch them. We all entered the house seeing Zack, Jules, and her boyfriend, Nate, sitting on the couch.

"Hey guys we've been waiting." Zack smiled widely at us knowing we brought snacks.

"You're sharing these foods you biggy." Kayla's words make Zack's smile turn into a frown while the rest of us laughed a bit.

"So what are we watching?" Nate wasn't really part of our friend circle, but we we're all friends with him. He hung out with his own friends most of the time and hung out with us once in awhile.

"Joseph wants to watch the new Minions movie." I sat on the carpet floor with my back against the couch and beside Allie and Joseph.

We were half way through the movie when people started to drift off and fall asleep. Joseph and I left first while others followed since it was a school night. The movie wasn't have bad, but my mind was still stuck on Maddison. Wondering what she's thinking or doing right now.

We planned today a couple days ago and Maddison was invited but of course she didn't show up. It would've been too awkward plus she talked to me more than the others.

"What's up with you? You seem to be deep in your thoughts." Zack came with Joseph and I since it was too late to walk home.

"I'm um.. just thinking about Maddison of course." His face was smiling with sympathy but his eyes spoke louder, like he was hiding something it was similar to Joseph's face at the store.

"Thinks will work out, trust me. Then you and Maddison can ride off into the sunset on your unicorn to go to the unknown lands." His words made me laugh and so did Joseph.

"You're stupid Zack." Joseph's sentence made Zack's mouth open widely in offence.

We got to Zack's house first and coming out of our window was a receding goodbye from him. Joseph and I lived about 5 minutes away so we almost always carpooled with one another.

"Do you really think things will get better?" He was staring at the road ahead of him but he face was full of sorrow for me.

"I do think it will get better, but in time. Just be patient, all the bad days will be worth it for the good ones." Since when did this idiot become so wise and poetic. I nodded as we pulled up to the front of my house.

"If it's meant to happen with Maddison, it will." I gave a sigh before leaving the car. I gave him a smile and a wave goodbye. He's right as usual when it came to this type of stuff, I'm just eager to talk to her or hug her. Just anything even if it's only standing beside her, I miss her so much.
