drip drip drip
Was it blood? Was it water?
Drip drip drip
What was that smell?
Drip Drip Drip
Nothing but darkness.
Drip Drip
The smell intensifies.
Drip
Suddenly something alights. A faint glow. Lloyds eyes shot to the source of the light. It was a bush. It seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite place it.
drip drip drip
He goes towards the bush. It seems to be the only thing here in this void. The bush and him. It's quite far away.
Walking turns into running. This place was unsettling him. He wanted to stay by the light.

Is the bush the source of the smell?

Finally, he arrives. The path felt way longer than it looked.
The glow had dimmed a bit. Lloyd didn't want it to go out.
drip drip drip
He inspects the bush. Was it wet? Was it the source of the dripping?
It stunk.
Lloyd wanted to touch it. Touch the liquid. Figure out what it was.
He heard a laugh before he could.
He looked up, his finger inches away from the bush.
Two people stood there, their backs facing him. He recognized them. He recognized the bush.
Drip Drip Drip
he recognized this scenario.
The girls were laughing. They paid him no mind. It was so loud, it gave him a headache. He wasn't sure if they were human. If the laugh was, at least. He figured they hadn't noticed him yet.
He was contemplating hiding behind the bush again.
drip drip
The laughing stopped. His eyes shot back up. The red haired girl was gone. Only the other stood there.
She was still, unmoving. Lloyd felt uneasy.
He loved the glow the bush provided so dearly, he wanted to crawl inside of the source and just sleep forever. But now his heart was tugging him. His mind was pushing him. He needed to go away. He needed to run.
The girl started moving. Ever so slowly her head began to turn. Her head and nothing else. It was steady, never going faster, never slower.
It was slow, Lloyd could still run. But he couldn't. He couldn't move. He noticed the liquid of the bush had circled around him. It was on his feet. It seemed to flow upwards. Lloyd recognized what the smell was.
Lloyd stared at the girl. He heard nothing, nothing at all. Not even his pounding heart. Not the liquid. Not the bush. Not the girl.
Suddenly, before Lloyd could get a good look at her face. Everything lit aflame. The laughing started again. First it was just the bush. Then it wandered to him. He knew what the liquid was. He couldn't scream. He couldn't wake up. He couldn't let his gaze fall away from the girl. Fire roared in his ears, as did the laugh. The girl looked at him but he didn't recognize her anymore. Her face was melting. It was as if she had become liquid.
