*two months later*
Courtney rehearsed, her Soul Train Awards performance around the corner, simultaneously watching her baby. The five-month-old sat on Drea's lap, eyeing the tablet showing his favorite YouTuber and mimicking the sign language. She grinned within her vocalizing just when Devon rushed in with the biggest smile plastered. He gestured for the music to be silenced and shouted for everyone to gather around. With her bunned curls, dressed in a crop top and sweats, she sat on the floor along with her dancers as Drea approached with Valero.
"I just gotta call.." Devon started, the suspense in the air. "You nominated for not one Grammy, but fucking five!"
The space erupted in applause and congratulating Courtney, who sat with a shocked expression. She couldn't believe it. First, her single "ICU" went platinum and now she was a Grammy nominated artist. Even if she didn't win; her being considered was all that matter.
"Shitting me!?" Was all she could muster up at the moment.
"Clap for mommy." Drea instructed, and Valero mimics her clapping gesture.
"I'm so serious," Devon said. "Come February you'll be attending Grammys as a very own nominee."
Courtney words stammered. "I'm lost for words.." she released, feeling her son reach for her. She grabbed and sat him on lap. "I don't even know how to feel being GRAMMY nominated. That's a different level. What now?"
"Same as any other show. For now, focus on Soul Train."
Courtney gave a nod, kissing her son's forehead and rubbing his hair.
While everyone returned to work, Devon sat with his niece and nephew. "I do want to know, though, you plan on inviting a date?" he asked.
