Y/n POV

"Hey, everyone relax. There's no need for this" Rick said as he jumped forward at one do the inmates.

"How many of you are in there?" The man asked. He seemed to be the leader. He had long hair and he kept his gun pointed at Rick.

"Too many for you to handle" Rick shot back at them. I smirked at Ricks response.

"You guys rob a bank or something?" The man asked, why the fuck would we do that? No point in money at all. "Why don't you take him to a hospital?" That's when it all clicked in. They have no idea what the fuck is going on.

"How long have you been locked in that cafeteria?" I asked the man as I stepped up forward.

"Going on like 10 months" The man said. Damn, that long?

"A riot broke out" another one of the inmates said. He was a big guy with a blue prison suit on. "Never seen anything like it."

"Attica on speed, man" Another inmate said. He had a country accent.

"Ever heard about dudes going cannibal, dying, coming back to life? Crazy." A shorter man said.

"One guard looked out for us, licked us up in the cafeteria. Told us sit tight, threw me this piece, said he'd be right back." The leader said.

"Yeah, and that was 292 days ago" Another man said. Fuck, we have been in this shit for that long. I brushed off the thought about our world going to shit.

"94, according to my calcula-" the country man tried to say before the leader interrupted him.

"Shut up" the leader snapped. I stepped back a little, I looked at the others and they gave me the same look.

"We were thinking that the army or the national guard  should be showing up any day now." The big guy said.

"There is no Army." Rick stated.

"What do you mean?" The leader asked.

"What he means is, there's no government, no hospitals, no police. It's all gone." I spat out, I kept my gun trained on the leader who was pointing his at T-Dog.

"For real?" The man with the country accent asked. I nodded my head at him.

"Serious" I told him

"What about my moms?" A big guy asked. My heart hurt a little for them. Even though they are prisoners it was terrible they didn't get a goodbye.

"My kids? My old lady? Yo, you got a cell phone or something we can call our families?" One do the men asked while stepping forward.

"You just don't get it do you?" Daryl asked as he kept his crossbow at the prisoners.

"No phones, no computers. As far as we can see, at least half of the population has been wiped out. Probably more." Rick said, there was a silence like no one believed him.

"Ain't no way" The leader said.

"See for yourself" Rick said. We took them to the nearest exit and kept a close eye on them. It was hard to focus when Hershel could be dying.
