We're in the Jojoe Cafe. Apart from Ringo, I was also with my friends from sports program, and also my new friends from performing arts program. Nagkita-kita kami dahil may mahalang balita raw si Nickey tungkol kay Andres.
It's the closing time so there's no customer in the place other than us.
"What?!" Carlyn reacted. "Dadalhin si Andres sa US?"
"Yes," said Nickey. "And our flight will be on Friday."
"Seriously?" said Bullet. "That's the graduation day."
"Yeah," said Poly. "Mukhang sinasadya ng Dad ni Andres."
"Baliw talaga 'yang tatay niyo," inis na sabi ni Juno kay Nickey.
"Wait!" Ringo raised his hand. "Hanggang kailan daw kayo doon?"
Nickey loosened a breath. "We're not sure. Pero ang usapan ni Dad at Tita Alice ay hanggang sa gumaling si Andres."
Agad naman akong napatingin kay Emilio na tahimik lang nakikinig sa isang tabi. Among us, I knew he was the one who's struggling the most in the situation.
"Wala na raw bang ibang option?" tanong ni Jacob.
"Oo nga," sunod na sabi ni Dayana. "If the problem is money, then let's contribute for it."
"I agree," said Carlyn. "If I need to negotiate with Mom to be her barbie girl again, I will do it, basta bigyan lang niya ako ng pera!"
"I'll try talking to my dad as well," I offered.
"Me too!" followed Bullet.
"Guys, I'm really glad with your suggestions," said Nickey. "Pero hindi biro ang gagastusin para gumaling si Andres."
"Tama," sabi ni Juno at lumingon sa'kin. "Remember, your dad will run as Mayor next year and Bullet's dad will be his vice mayor. I know your parents are willing to help, but do you think Andres' dad will allow it knowing he's on the opposite party for the election?"
"She has a point," Ringo supported. "Baka lalo lang maging magulo ang sitwasyon. We all know what money can do, and his Dad will surely do everything to bring Andres to US."
As I listened to Ringo, I felt a different feeling. Maybe he pulled his words through his bad experience with my grandfather.
Emilio stood from his chair, which caught our attention. "Guys, we need to let him go. Tita Alice already decided for his son. All we have to do is respect her decision."
Bumagsak ang katahimikan sa Jojoe Cafe, halos hindi makatingin ang lahat kay Emilio. I empathized with his emotions because Ringo and I were also going our separate ways after high school.
Everyone couldn't speak anymore because there seemed to be no other solution about Andres' situation. May sakit siya at hindi namin alam ang maaaring mangyari kung sakaling makialam pa kami. After all, we're just young people who had no enough experience about life.
"Guys," Murphy broke the silence. "Do you want some milkshake? My treat!"
Nagpalitan kaming lahat ng tingin. I knew he just wanted to change the mood, and I felt at ease knowing that everyone got his signal.
"Sure," said Carlyn who forced an energetic voice.
"It's in the house, so who am I to resist," followed Juno.
Murphy grinned while scratching his head. "But we have a problem. Umuwi na ang mga staff namin kaya walang magtitimpla ng milkshake."
"No problem," said Nessa. "We'll help you, right Aimee?"
