I woke up bright and early at 7 am to the sound of shuffling in the kitchen. I went to check the sound, spotting Lorelai and Rory eating pop tarts.

"Morning Tilda." Rory exclaimed happily.

"good morning." I smiled happily.

"We spent 20 minutes trying to figure out a good nickname." Lorelai spoke referring to the nickname "Tilda" I liked it.

"Get ready we're leaving for Luke's in 30 minutes." Rory added her mouth full of pop tart.

I nodded and walked to the lounge room to grab an outfit from my suitcase. I picked out a dark green cable knit sweater and some bootcut black jeans. I brushed my hair and added a black headband and threw on my dark red docs.

"I'm ready!" I sang.

"Cute shoes!" Lorelai gasped eyeing my outfit.

I chuckled and we left to go to Luke's. The streets were quiet though it looked like the whole town was out and about. Stars Hollow seemed alright so far though I did miss the busy streets of London.

We walked through the door and a bell above the door jingled.

"Good morning Luke." Rory and Lorelai said in unison as we walked into the busy diner.

"This is my niece, Matilda from London. She will be staying with us from now on." Lorelai exclaimed pushing me towards the middle aged man.

"Nice to meet you." Luke said shaking my hand.

I smiled, seemed like a nice man.

We sat at the counter and ordered from our menus.

"What do you want?" Luke asked.

"Coffee." We all said in unison.

"Great another caffeine addict." Luke grumbled making us all giggle.

A boy with dark messy hair walked down the steps rubbing his eyes, he must've just woken up.

"Jess." Luke stopped him.

"Meet Matilda, she's Lorelai's niece and she flew in last night." Luke said pushing him forwards.

I got up to shake his hand. "Nice to meet you."

He shook my hand, " Wow British wouldn't have expected it." He said in a raspy American accent rising his eyebrows.

I smiled and he smiled back before walking out the door with a pack of cigarettes and a book.

"Wow that's the most words he's said to anyone here." Lorelai blurted out making Luke chuckle.

We drunk our coffee and ate our breakfast before heading out the door to go to the bookstore.

"Wow I love everything here!" I gasped making Rory giggle.

"Most of my books are getting sent here and will arrive next week." I said.

"I'm looking forward to seeing your collection." Rory answered happily.

Lorelai was outside taking a call for her INN whilst me and Rory went looking in the bookstore.

"All done." I said walking out with a bag full of books.

"Oh wow, it must be genetics." She smiled as Rory walked out with a bag the same size.

We headed back home to find the construction crew working on the attic.

"Could I please take a look." I asked politely.

"Ofcourse." The contractor said.

I walked up the steps into the room. It was amazing. The huge windows, big bookshelf, I was in awe.

"We're just finishing off the bathroom and we're actually a day ahead of schedule so it should be all done by tomorrow." The man said.

"Oh that's amazing thank you." Thanked him before going back downstairs.

"Thank you Lorelai for the amazing room." I thanked hugging her.

"No problem kid, remember to also thank your parents ,they helped pay for it." She laughed lightly.

I grabbed my cell from my bag and texted mum.

- Hey mum, Stars Hollows been good so far. I hope that you could call me when you can. Thank you so much for the room, thank dad for me. Love you.

I sent it hoping that she would reply soon. My parents didn't always have time for me, that's another reason they sent me here. With dad's law firm and mums book events and parties for her new books, they neglected me most of the time.

Well they tried to make up for it in new books and clothes but it would never be the same as their love and attention.

Rory was hanging out with her boyfriend Dean and Lorelai was out shopping with her friend Sookie so I decided to go on a walk and find a place to read.

I grabbed my book and left the house to find a spot, after walking for about 10 minutes I found a quiet bridge and decided to sit on it my legs dangling off the edge.

I felt a tap on my shoulder making me jump a little.

"AH!" I yelled.

"Jeez calm down, not here to murder you." I heard a familiar voice say.

He sat on the bench next to me.

"Oh Jess I nearly had a heart attack." I said holding my heart dramatically.

He smiled before asking. "You're a Gilmore too right." He asked.

"Yes, Matilda Jane Gilmore." I replied.

"Jane?" He asked.

"Jep, after Jane Austen." I explained.

"You read Jane Austen?" He asked.

"Oh yeah, I love her books." I answered smiling.

"Yeah me too." He spoke.

"Want one?" He asked pulling out a cigarette.

"No, thanks." I smiled.

"You coming to that dinner thing?" He asked.

"Yeah I mean it's at my house." I said.

"Right." He chuckled lighting the cigarette.

While he smoked I got a good look at him. He had a sharp jawline and straight nose with bushy eye brows and dark brown eyes. His eyelashes were extremely long, I was jealous.

He looked nice.

"You gonna take a job at Luke's?" He asked breaking the silence.

" I've been thinking about it and I think it's the only job I want in this town." I answered.

"Good, I'll have someone to talk to." He smirked.

I couldn't help but blush. Gosh Matilda, handle yourself, you see one guy and start acting like a boy crazy 12 year old. I looked away to hide it but I think he noticed by the way he smiled softly.

"I've gotta go set up for dinner." I said getting up.

"Bye Jess, see you at dinner." I waved back.

"Bye Jane." He answered quietly making me turn back and smile.

Lots of nicknames today.
