"Here to work." I greeted Luke as I walked through the door of the diner.

"Great I need you and Jess in the storage room again but no silly business this time." He gave me a stern look.

"Hey." I smiled seeing Jess opening boxes
In the room.

"Jane." His eyes lit up seeing me.

He walked over giving me a soft kiss his hands trailing to my hips.

"Woah, woah, woah." I pulled away.

"Luke said no funny business." I said with a small smile.

"And when have I ever listened." He smirked kissing me again, this time I kissed him back.

"How was school?" I asked.

"Fine, still the most boring place on earth. You?"

"Boring." I sighed as I started opening boxes.

My cell phone started ringing in my back pocket.

"Hello." I answered not knowing who it was.

"Matilda darling, how are you?"

"Oh mum, I'm doing fine."

Jess looked up from the boxes with a shocked expression making me chuckle a bit.

"Tell me everything that has happened. I have 5 minutes to spare." She said.

"Um well, I'm doing good in school straight A's. I have a great room at Lorelai's thank you. I got a job at a diner and uh I got a boyfriend." I instantly regretted saying the last bit as I closed my eyes tightly.

"A boyfriend?" You could hear the shock in her voice. I opened my eyes looking at jess who looked very confused.

"Yeah, his name is Jess Mariano and he's a great guy, we've been together for about a week." I answered making Jess chuckle.

"Don't you think you should have told me about that earlier." She scoffed.

"I tried to call you, you never even texted me back. Also I've been in Stars Hollow for 2 months and you didn't even call me to ask if my flight had went well." I felt hurt.

I saw Jess' face change into a worried one.

"I've been busy." She tried to defend herself.

"Too busy even for your own daughter. I have to go mum, bye." I scoffed.

"Come here." Jess opened his arms taking me into a hug and kissing the top of my head.

"You okay?" He asked.

"No but I'm used to it, it's always been like this." I sighed pulling away from the hug.

I glanced at my watch noticing that it's break time so me and Jess ran upstairs to go lay on the couch.

We sat there for our 15 minute break laughing at Luke's reaction to seeing us in the storage room.

Luke barged through the door yelling "separate!"

We quickly sat onto the other sides of the couch.
