"Was it really a dinosaur?"

"Did it hurt anyone?"

"We heard you took it down!"

"Was it scary?"

"What spells did you use?"

Sebastian used that as an opportunity to ruin their days. "I'm glad you asked. Dinosaurs and dark creatures alike, I want you all to write a paper on which offensive spells you would use in the event of an attack. I'll let you choose the creature, but I want you to focus on which spells would be effective, not just which ones would do some damage. You never know what sort of situations you'll come across and it's important that you're well prepared. Let's have it due next week on Monday."

Despite his reasoning, he was now met with a symphony of groans. Music to his ears.

"Professor, it's the second day of class and we already have a paper?" One of the Gryffindors complained, rubbing a hand down his face.

Sebastian leaned against his desk, regarding the class with dry amusement. "I could always assign two papers."

"Are you a tyrant?" One of his snakes let out and then covered their mouth with a sheepish expression.

His lips quirked up, "You want to find out?"

"No! One paper is enough!" One of the young witches said, casting her peers a sharp glance, "Thank you, Professor!"

The bell chimed, signaling the end of class. Everyone ran out, eager to discuss the news of the dinosaur attack and escape the possibility of two assignments. Once everyone was out, Sebastian's smile fell. Poppy's conversation haunted him. How was his dear old friend doing? Not that the man would ever forgive him for Fifth year.

But that was fine. He didn't forgive himself either for pushing everyone away and encouraging them to lie about what happened to his Uncle. He deserved their resentment.

Magizoology Tip #4

Waiting for someone to understand you is like waiting for an Augurey's cry in a desert. Unlikely. And probably a waste of time.

She waited to read the letter until she was within the confines of her bedroom. The faint smell of ink and parchment tickled her nose as she opened it up and sat on the windowsill, leading to a marvelous view of the gardens.

Honeybea,

I hope you've been well. Forgive me if the nickname is too familiar since it's been a while, but calling you Beatrice or Miss Clarke feels oddly formal for two friends. There's been a lot of chatter about Magical Beasts here in the United Kingdom, mainly around Hogwarts. In the past week, a carnivorous dinosaur and a plague rat have appeared at Hogwarts.

Yes, you read that right. Luckily no students were killed, but one had been attacked by a Baryonyx. A dinosaur that should have been extinct for millions of years. According to the report I saw, two students watched the creature emerge from the Black Lake; thinking it to be friendly. One of them tried to pet it. It, of course, attacked and one of the Professors managed to protect the students while subduing the creature. Someone I used to be close to too.
