"Honeybea..." Ominis' shoulders were tense as he asked a question he must have been to afraid to earlier with Sebastian around, "Your father really abused you? Physically?"
"You think I'm lying?"
"Of course not." His lips pressed together in frustration, "I just can't imagine someone wanting to hurt you. You're so... Good. Pure. I've always thought that about you. I can't imagine someone taking a flower and crushing something beautiful purely for their own amusement."
"You think too highly of me."
"That's quite alright. You don't think highly enough, so I'll care in your place." He sighed quietly, "If we're able to capture this creature, what will you do afterwards?"
"Find work. Place to live-"
"You can stay with me."
"I couldn't impose."
"We're friends." Ominis pointed out wryly, "Friends help each other."
Beatrice wanted to argue more, but she didn't have anywhere else to go. "If you're sure..."
He nodded once, "I am. After this mess is done with, I can show you 'round London. Poppy might have an idea of work available-She's a friend that works at the Ministry with me, but in another department."
"Oh? Which one?"
"The Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. You might even see her around. She's leading the case right now." Ominis explained, gesturing towards the door in a wayward direction, "I think you both would get along great. She's always had an affinity for magical creatures and their wellbeing. She reminded me a bit of you, actually. I think that's what drew me towards her in the first place."
Beatrice felt an unfamiliar emotion stir in her chest. One ugly and made her faintly dislike a woman whom she's never met. She didn't like the way it made her feel. In the way of a response, she gave Ominis a tight smile and said, "Sure. Maybe."
He caught the shift in her tone, opening his mouth to speak when the door flew open, and then just as quickly-slammed shut.
In the moments that he'd left, Sebastian's suit was ripped. His white dress shirt torn in half, revealing a very prominent set of sculpted abdominal muscles. A light dusting of freckles-Stop staring.
Luckily for her, Sebastian was too busy panting and holding the door shut as something heavy thudded against the wall.
"Found the big scary cat." Once he caught his breath, his grin was huge. "Turns out it doesn't like water spells."
Beatrice scowled, "You casted Aguamenti on it? What were you expecting to happen? The cat to say thank you and move on with its day?"
Sebastian's grin didn't falter, but took on a naughty undertone as he winked. "I thought wet pussy was a good thing."
Ominis smacked his own forehead, muttering. "He's so dumb." He turned his head towards Beatrice's direction. He clearly ignored her cough to hide her laugh, "You ready to catch a cat, Honeybea?"
She nodded, casting them both an amused glance. "Sure. But Sebastian's the bait."
