"I knew Anne got all the brain cells in the womb." Poppy reflected airily.

To everyone's surprise, Sebastian didn't say anything. Someone who'd proven able to take a joke earlier or quip that he hated everyone, had shut down. His expression impassive, his lip turned down in a brooding scowl, and his arms were crossed against his chest. It looked as if someone had just killed his crup. Was this Anne person important to him? If Poppy said the womb, then maybe his sister?

Ominis broke the silence again, noticing tension in the room had shifted. "Dragons. They've been around since forever-the sabertooth would recognize the scent of fresh dragon."

"Great!" Poppy smiled unsurely, "Now where the bollocks are we to get dragon meat? That stuff is highly regulated and incredibly expensive."

"I might know someone."

Poppy eyed him, "Is it illegal? I will report this if it's illegal to my supervisor."

Ominis waved her off, "You can come with me and see it's humane. Beatrice would you like to come with us?"

She shook her head, "Thank you, but the prospect of smelling raw meat doesn't really intrigue me. I"ll stay here incase there's another kitty sighting."

"If you're sure..." Ominis said frowning, but he didn't even bother to ask Sebastian.

The answer was likely no anyway. She watched the two leave the classroom before shifting her attention to the other wizard. He was still brooding and the quill he'd been levitating was now on fire.

"We would have been 25 tomorrow." Sebastian's voice was devoid of emotion.

Beatrice frowned, "Anne and you?" He nodded, "Did she pass away?"

Sebastian sighed and shook his head. "No. But I'm dead to her."

Magizoology Tip #11

The past can be like an Obscurial, constantly haunting you, if you let it.

He was dead to his sister?

"Your cheery personality not good enough for her?"

Sebastian gave her a mocking ha-ha-ha, "Look who finally found her sense of humor."

"I've always had it."

"Yes, but you're also quiet. Yet not." His eyebrows scrunched together, trying to eloquently put his thoughts together. "I'm willing to bet being silent most of the time is a result of the Trauma club."

Beatrice shrugged, sitting on one of the desks that faced him. "It was easier to nod at the right places and be silent to avoid getting hit."

"Why didn't you leave?"

"Why are you dead to your sister?" She countered.

He stared at her for a moment. "Answer the question and then I'll answer."

Beatrice casted him a slight warning glance. One his eyes narrowed in on with a brief flash of humor pulling up the corner of his lips. "I didn't leave because it's the only home I've ever known. More than that, every precious memory of my mother is there. All her mementos... Everything. Leaving home felt like I was leaving her. And if I'm being honest, I was hoping that my father would wake up one day and apologize. I wouldn't forgive him, but I could move forward and build the sort of close relationship a father and daughter should have."
