One Dinner

Xinyu Pov

I didn't expect my aunt to invite Sohyun to eat together. I'm sure she's very awkward right now, considering she has family problems and now she's eating together.

"Xinyu, have dinner-" and she saw me hugging Sohyun. Of course I immediately let her go.

"Am I interrupting your moment?"

"At least knock first"

"yeah yeah, anyway dinner is ready. Invite your girlfriend too"

"She's not my girlfriend"

And here Sohyun is now stroking her hand on her thigh continuously because she feels awkward. I try to calm her down by holding her hand. I don't know what the two people in front of me are thinking.

"You haven't introduced yourselves" I said in a flat tone. I pointed at my sister.

"You. You eavesdropped on our conversation" then I pointed at my aunt.

"And you. You opened my room door without knocking. Can't you give me privacy? This is the nth time" I could feel Sohyun kicking my leg and telling me to speak politely. 

"Be a little polite" she whispered to me but I shook my head because I was fed up with their behavior.

"Yeah, yeah. I am Ning Yizhuo, the sister of this weirdo" my sister explained while rolling her eyes at me.

"And this is our aunt, or you can say our Sugar Aunty? Handong" Handong just waved at Sohyun.

"I am Park Sohyun. Her classmate" Sohyun said while bowing briefly.

"You have only been in school for 1 month, and you have already brought a friend here? You are so fast?" I just rolled my eyes but my hand was still holding Sohyun's hand to calm her down. I looked at Sohyun who seemed like she had a question but she didn't want to ask it. She looked at me for a moment, then looked at my sister again.

"You two don't look alike. Compared to Yizhuo, you look more like Nien" she said and managed to confuse my sister and aunt.

"You know Nien?"

"She's a class member"

"No wonder. Well... you could say that" Sohyun was clearly confused by the answer but she chose to remain silent.

The four of us started eating after Ning – Ning, my sister, complained of hunger as if she hadn't eaten for 2 years. Sohyun's arrival was very warmly welcomed by the two of them and made me grateful because at least Sohyun had a side family who was willing to accept her.

Well at least I could get closer to her and become her best friend?

"The rain hasn't stopped – I wonder" Ning – Ning just nodded, unlike Sohyun who was now looking outside with a worried face.

"Worried about something?"

"My job" I guessed she must be thinking about her job.

I could only remain silent and not talk about her family problems in front of Handong and Ning – Ning.

"Let's do the assignment?" I invited which she agreed to.

"Thanks for the food. And you guys, knock on the door first" I said which was clearly only teased by them.

I reached out my hand to Sohyun but it was clear she didn't reciprocate. I saw her very confused expression. She even entered the room first without realizing that I had entered first, as if this room was her.

"Sohyun" she did not respond.

"Park Sohyun" again she did not respond because she was busy with her own cellphone.

"Well Soh-"

"I'm going home first, okay? I have to work" I locked my room door so she couldn't get out.

"I told you not to work today"

"You said you were there that day, right? Did you hear that I asked Dahyun if she could pay my family's debt? Now I ask you, can you pay my family's debt?" it was clear that her eyes were already glassy.

"If I want, I can pay all your debts. But you will definitely hate me very much. And don't worry, Seoyeon has replaced your position tonight"

"What do you mean?" I video called Seoyeon to show proof that her job was replaced by Seoyeon today.

"wassup?"

"Sohyun is upset with me because I didn't let her work"

"YAH PARK SOHYUN!!" even though she was talking on the phone, her voice was very loud.

"Don't be upset with Xinyu. This was all her idea so you could rest"

Sohyun Pov

"Don't be upset with Xinyu. This was all her idea so you can rest" Xinyu's idea? I looked at Xinyu who had turned her face away so I wouldn't see her.

"What are you guys planning?" Seoyeon just shrugged her shoulders and ended the call because a customer had come.

"Now you know why I was so quick to tell you not to work? You really want to rest, right?"

This idiot? Does she know how to speak to someone? She actually turned her back on me.

"Well... look at me" she shook her head, so I went to her face. I thought she was crying, but her face was really red.

Why is she like this, weird

"Do you know what I said earlier?"

"Can you pay my debt?"

"It's not that, stupid"

"And?"

"You're weird" Xinyu finally laughed again even though her face was still red.

"For the umpteenth time, thank you" she just nodded and invited me to do the assignment again.

Everything went very smoothly. Xinyu was still the Xinyu I knew in class. Even at home, she turned out to be very noisy. There was always something she talked about, but at the same time she also kept doing assignments that made me a little confused with her strange behavior. But it was her strange behavior that made me feel at home with her. This was the first time in a long time that I trusted someone again to be a friend. And I could feel that my friendship with Xinyu would last a long time.
