moonlight sonnet

Like the moon, I came to be thanks to the sun

A disco ball cloaked by daylight's gleam

And once it sinks and has concluded its run

The seats are all empty, houses asleep

It is a sight bestowed since the dawn of time -

The sun as the biggest star,

My presence briefly descried,

And my glow could never venture that far

With the sun ever burning bright,

Rendering herself hallowed,

My fragile smile greets the dead of night,

Her shadows eclipsing my crossroads

It is a prophecy eternally spoken -

I stare at the void as she paints the earth golden.
