It started a normal evening. We were sitting at a bar until Louis said he was going outside for air.
He came back fifteen minutes later telling us to put down our drinks -that we hadn't even had a sip of yet- and to follow him outside.
Niall and Harry tried to wriggle their way out of it, but Louis had no shame in taking them each by the arm and dragging them out the door. I was following behind Louis, confused as to what was happening, until Louis led us into an alleyway and showed us a box.
"Are you drunk already or..?" Harry asked, waiting for Louis to finish the sentence.
"This'll sound absolutely mental, but there's a girl in that box and we're gonna get her out.""And why are we doing that?" Niall queried.
"I found her and I'm not going to just leave her here because I'm not a horrible person."
After further inspection into the box, you could see the lid was held on by sheets of metal bent and screwed into the wood, a padlock on each of the sheets as well.
There was only four of them -one on each side of the box- but still seemed as if it would take at least an hour to get open.
"Alright, go find whatever you can to open the box." Niall shot me a thumbs up before the three of them went all different directions, looking around the alleyway.
Can she breathe?
I look around the box and find four small holes that look like they had been made with a kitchen knife.
I made an attempt to talk to her, see what happened but all I got back was muffled cries which led me to believe her mouth had been duct taped. But I did end up just narrating everything that was happening to her, because if I was in that situation and stuck in a box, I'd like to know what was happening outside.
Harry came back holding a brick, and so did Niall. Louis arrived back ten minutes after them, but somehow managed to find himself a crowbar.
"So what's the plan exactly?" Harry asked.
"I say we try and knock the padlocks off with the bricks, one coming from either side should break it off." Louis shrugged, Harry and Niall agreeing.
I stepped back and stood next to Louis, while Harry and Niall were either side of one of the padlocks.
"I'll count to three then hit it." Niall said.
"Wait on three or after three?" Harry asked.
"On three."
"I'm going to see if I can find anything else because a crowbar and two bricks is not going to open that." Louis said to me, handing me said crowbar.
The next thing I heard was metal hitting concrete, one of the four padlocks successfully broken off.
"So that did nothing." Niall threw the brick to the side.
"What do you mean?" I asked, stepping over and seeing the padlocks around the box were simply for decoration.
"Damn it," I mutter. "Should we try and pry the metal off with this or wait for Louis to come back?"
"Where'd he go?" Harry also threw the brick he was holding to the side.
"Went to see if he could find anything else to open the box."
"Probably wait incase he finds something that could work better than a crowbar." Niall said.
"So, hitting the padlocks with bricks didn't work, but we're going to wait for our mate to get back first because he might have something that can help; okay?" I spoke directly into one of the breathing holes as the wood was pretty thick and she might not be able to hear me.
