I was in my room watching Saw II on the TV, up until halfway through the movie when there was a knock at the door. I paused it and stood up to answer the door, Niall stood behind it with his hands in his pockets.
"What are you doing tonight?" He asked straightaway.
"I'm just rewatching the Saw movies. Why?" I open the door further so he can see the paused TV screen.
"Would you mind coming out with me tonight? Nothing special, I'm just done with staying in hotels nearly all the time." He was leaning against the doorway with his hands still in his pockets, waiting on my answer.
"Yeah sure; just give me a minute." I step back into the room, leaving the door open for him to come in aswell. He stood against the wall, taking out his phone and typing on it at a furious pace. I thought nothing of it, switching off the TV and grabbing my shoes that were neatly stowed away in my suitcase. I made sure my bank card and room key were in my phone case before turning around to face Niall. He had stopped typing, his thumbs hovering over the keyboard as he bit his lip.
Niall looked up from the screen, putting his phone away.
"Where are we even going?" I asked as we walked out. Niall shrugged, saying he would much rather be anywhere else than locked in his hotel room. The conversation kept going as we walked down paths and crossed roads, but it was mostly Niall going off about things he didn't like- mainly Kathy and how controlling she is over him and the boys.
We ended up in a random park and didn't know where we were, but Niall kept going as we walked past an array of trees and bushes, occasionally stepping on a twig and snapping it. Niall was basically going through anyone he could think of and saying what he thought of them while I commented every now and then.
"I keep forgetting to ask you this- but why are you and your mum like, eternal opposites?"
My eyebrows crease. "What do you mean?"
"Well, she's got bright blonde hair which is pin straight and yours is dark brown and curly." Niall's gaze scanned over me.
"Oh, that's because I look more like my father- or so I'm told. He was born and raised in Spain and I just got my eyes from my mum." I look forward, but can still feel his eyes on me.
"I don't think I've seen your dad before."
"Me neither."
I look over at Niall as decides whether it's appropriate or not to laugh at my joke.
"Do you casually make jokes about your father?" He asked slowly."Yeah; Mum does too."
"I remember her telling me and the boys when my dad came up in conversation. Said that you and I would be good friends." He chuckled.
"Did she actually say that?" I ask as we found ourselves in a children's play-park.
"Yep. She wasn't wrong by the looks of things though," Niall stepped over to the swingset, sitting in one as I took the other next to him. "But she never said why he left and now I'm curious. Do you mind me asking?"
"No, I don't mind. I never knew him anyway so I don't really care too much. To make it simple, my mum had me when she was 19, he said he was too young to be a parent and just disappeared. Then she met my step-dad, they got married, had my sister and we all took his last name. That's why me and my sister also look nothing alike."
