I continued to walk heading for the front gates as I was heading to have lunch off campus with a friend. I took out my phone to set my driving playlist but at that moment I bumped into someone. I stopped and went to apologize.
"I'm sorry." I said as I began to head to the front gate
"Wait," he said.
I turned around facing him. He was taller than I was and probably taller than Anthony was. He had blond hair with sky-blue eyes and despite his facial features displaying an innocent look, something about him screamed cunning.
"I'm sorry, can you tell me where room 506 is?"
I looked at him with a slight confusion on my face which he took notice of.
"I'm new here and I don't know where the rooms are," he said.
"Oh, it's not that, it's just lunch time right now."
"Oh," he said.
"I thought that I had to hurry to my next class right away," he added.
"No, it's currently lunch but if you follow me I'll show you where the classroom is."
I led him to the left side of the classroom where the 500 rooms were.
"It's this one right here," I said as I pointed to the classroom.
"Thank you, oh one more thing if you don't mind." He said.
"Yes?"
"Do you mind telling me where the cafeteria is?"
"Sure it's right where we were," I said.
I led him back to where we were and pointed to it.
"Thank you, I was really lost."
"No problem, see you," I said.
"Wait!" he said.
"Yeah? "
"Do you want to join me?"
I hate to admit to myself that I actually took a moment to consider his proposal. But I hated the fact even more that I had just said with Anthony that I was going to avoid boys and look at me, here I was already being swept off my feet by the new kid cliche.
"Oh, I'm sorry I actually have plans to eat out of campus," I said.
"No problem. I'm sorry but I don't think I got your name."
"I'm Emerald," I said.
"Nice to meet you Emerald, my name is Daniel but I don't mind being called Sky ." He said.
"Well nice to meet you, Daniel, I'll see you around."
"You did hear that last part, didn't you?" He asked.
For some reason at that moment I acted contrary to how I had acted during my current life. I was quiet and reserved but when he talked to me it was different. I wanted to break character like I had done in a few instances before in my other past lives when the situation demanded. Something overtook me, which is why I think I answered the way I did.
"I did, but I prefer Daniel, it suits you better," I responded with a slight smirk.
I headed again toward the front gate thinking to myself no. Though we look different in every new life, there is something about the way that we talk which alerts us to who we are. If I can describe it in one way, we Continuous are kind of cocky. And there was something about him (and me though I tried to stop myself) that screamed that very word.
But I pray to whatever be out there listening to me that he was not who I thought he might be. There is no way that it could be him right? It is just someone with the same name, I'm sure of it. I would rather not think about it ever again. It's just a coincidence I'm sure, please let me be right...
