She went over to her dresser and opened it, pulling out a large emerald green gown. It had a corset which I was already dreading putting on and in the front a slit to reveal an even darker green fabric underneath it. It had gold spirals from the waist below and from the top sides of the chest ending at the waist where gold flowers with light green sparkles to resemble the leaves. The sleeves were tight from the shoulder down to the elbow where they became loose.
"Well, what do you think? Do you like the emerald color, Emerald?"
"I love it, but it looks very familiar. Don't you think so?"
"Does it?" Monica said, trying to avoid my question.
"Did you go into my room and get it?" I asked
"Does that make you love it more or less?"
"I love it. Thank you." I said.
"You know where the bathroom is right?"
I nodded as I made my way into the bathroom to change out of the sweats I had on and into the dress. When I got out Monica already had her dress on, it was red with silver designs all around. It showed off her shoulders and just like mine had a corset with a silver lace. It went perfectly with the nails that she had just gotten.
"You look beautiful Emerald. Okay, I'll do your hair first and then mine." Monica said with the most gentle smile.
"You look like a goddess Monica." I felt like a proud older sister helping her younger sister get ready for her first prom.
"I know." She said cockly.
She motioned her hand for me to sit on the chair that was facing the mirror on the table. I took a seat and she picked up a brush that resembled that of the 1500s, befitting the current era that the Mass was reflecting.
She gently brushed out my hair and then started braiding it. She had made a middle part and left two small strands of hair out that touched the corners of my glasses and fell down. My braids began in the front part that she had made and ended in the bottom back of my head, all my hair tucked in and braided up into a crown. She then continued to curl the two small strands of hair that she had left out in the front.
"There, all done. Do you want me to add the jewels now?"
"It's beautiful Monica. Don't worry about the jewels, I'll add them. You go ahead and do yours. "
She patted my shoulders motioning for me to get up from the chair so that she could do her hair. I went to get the bag she had brought to look for the jewels to add. She added a tiara to her hair, she had decided to go with an updo, the back of her hair with massive curls.
"Will you do my makeup?" Monica asked.
"You trust me to do that?" I asked.
"Who else would I trust if not the creator of blush herself."
I nodded and went into her makeup bag once again. I began with her eyes adding a hint of red and silver at the end, I then continued with her lips adding a deep rouge with a paintbrush she had stored. Finally ending with my specialty of blush, I wondered why she brought so many of them. She wanted me to mix them until I found the right one for her.
I finished quite quickly as I had already been accustomed to this in my first life. I took a step back and smiled at my work. I let her take a look and she smiled. I was contemplating whether I should do my makeup as well, and Monica must have noticed it as she nodded yes to me.
I mimicked the design that I had done on Monica with green and gold on the end of my eyes but a lighter color of red on my lips that was barely noticeable.
"Last touches," she said as she motioned for me to sit up, my back facing her. I turned my head to see what she was doing but she pushed my head back to the front.
"It's better if you don't look," Monica said as she began to get the end strings in my corset to tighten it up.
I instantly flinched with a flashback of pain washing over me. Thankfully she had finished quicker so I didn't have to register the pain for so long.
"Now do me," Monica said.
"Again, that would definitely get you arrested."
She pushed my shoulder and I began adjusting her corset tugging as best as I could.
"We look perfect," Monica said.
I went back into her makeup bag to fetch the jewelry I had seen earlier, it was a gold ring with a rectangle emerald in the middle. Then I put on the gold necklaces with little hints of green and lastly gold drop earrings with a green droplet dead center, it was my jewelry and it felt just as heavy as it did in my 14th life.
"Wait!" She said, making her way to the dresser.
"I almost forgot here," Monica said as she handed me a pair of contacts and a green mask with gold accents getting a red mask with silver accents for herself.
"Where did you get these contacts?"
"I stole an old pair of your glasses and had some real eye doctors amplify the lenses for your contacts."
I laughed and took them right away telling her, "I don't know how to put them on."
"I do, come here, sit down."
"You know it would have been better if you told me you had these before I did my eye makeup."
"I forgot, but don't worry I'll be careful."
She put them on with ease and they did not hurt as much as I thought that they would. I blinked to get them in place and saw her putting on two drops of glue on the sides of her face to hold up the mask, I did the same.
"Not so bad right?" Monica asked.
"Not so bad," I responded in a whisper.
