The tips of my fingers gently pressed against his back and shoulders, his skin warm against mine. I stroked the back of his leg with my foot, running it up and down as I waited for the moment to pass. I brought one hand up to his hair and got tangled up in it. I kept my face buried in his neck. It wasn't the most pleasant feeling I'd ever known but I could sort of see why other people couldn't get enough of it.

Sort of.

Even after it was over I didn't move. I didn't want to. I didn't want Angus to leave my side. He was so warm and soft and safe. His steady breath in my ear and his lips cushioning my cheek were wonderful. His voice telling me everything was okay and his quiet whispers of affection were the best part of the whole thing.

This is what I would miss when he left.

After kissing my face a few times Angus shook his hair out of his face and smiled down at me. "You alright, love?"

"I'm okay," I said wishing he'd come closer again so we could stay the way we were. He leaned on one elbow and brushed some stray strands of hair off my forehead.

"Took me long enough," he said. "Promised ya' years ago an' it's jus' now happened."

"I don't care," I said. Truth was I really just preferred being with him. It didn't matter to me what the end result was.

"I should be the worried one," he said. "You'll up an' leave at the first guy who can do it every time."

"I'm not leaving," I mumbled, yawning. I wasn't usually this tired afterwards. "I like you."

"I like you too," he said touching his nose to mine. The dogs lay sleeping on the floor not at all bothered, having no clue what had even happened. It must have been the middle of the night by now. I closed my eyes and ran my fingers up and down his back, his arms wrapped securely around me. Just like always he had been so kind and so gentle. Not rushing into anything I didn't want to do. Holding my hand, telling me he loved me...

I didn't ever want to move from this spot.

"You're Angus McKinnon," I murmured into his hair. I heard him laugh.

"An' you're Hannah Ruth," he said kissing my temple. "An' I love you."

I sighed. "I love you too..." I could fall asleep just like this. We could clean up later, we were too comfortable. But there was still something I had to tell him first before he left the next day. "Angus...?"

"Hm?" he asked resting his forehead against mine.

"I want to marry you," I said. I wasn't sure if he even heard me. He didn't answer right away. He pulled away from me just a bit so he could see me better. His face was a bit flushed and his skin was glowing.

"Wh-what?" he asked. I traced my nails gently over his skin.

"I want to marry you," I said again. He turned a little pink and smiled.

"Ya' mean that?" he asked. "You want to?" I nodded, closing my eyes again. I felt Angus press his lips against every inch of my face. It tickled. "I haven't even gotten you a ring yet."

"That's okay," I said about to drift off. He kissed me a few more times before resting his head against the pillow, holding me close to him.

"So...we're engaged now...?" he asked.

"Mmhm," I nodded. "You're my best friend..." I don't remember if he said anything after that. I had fallen asleep.
