Parthi's Point of View:

I was in my class, zoning out on the blackboard when Shweta nudged me.

I came out of my trance.

I looked at her, raised my eyebrow, asking her what happened with my eyes.

"I saw our vice principal on this floor. Maybe she is taking rounds. So, I thought to make you conscious" She whispered to me.

I just made an O face and nodded my head.

And with that, I shifted my focus to the lecture.

A few moments into the lecture and I saw the current head boy of our school coming towards our class.

"May I come in sir" He asked for permission, standing at the door of our classroom.

Sir looked towards the door, the origin of the voice and said, "Yes please"

"Sir actually, Arpita ma'am wanted to talk with Parthi and Kush. So, if you permit, may I take them with me" He asked sir for his permission politely.

"Yes sure. Parthi, Kush. Go" Sir said.

And, we both got up from our seats and went towards him.

"Follow me" Head boy said.

And, we both started walking behind him.

Me and Kush just shared a look with each other, confusion written on both of our faces.

"Would you mind telling us where you are taking us" Kush asked him politely.

"You'll get to know. For now please just follow me" Head boy said with a smile on his face.

For me, he was perfect. Perfect for the position of a head boy.

He was good in studies, okay in sports and also active in participation in co-curricular activities.

He was polite and respectful. He respected everyone and talked nicely with them. He was never arrogant or rude and definitely did not misuse the title of being the 'head boy' of the school. Like some people would misuse their positions but he never did.

And, for me, a head boy should be like that only. And not just a head boy but a head girl as well as all the other council members.

Soon enough, we reached the AV Room.

The head boy opened the door of the AV Room and I saw shadows inside.

"Ma'am, they are here" He said and gestured us to enter inside.

As we both entered inside, we saw our class teacher, Arpita ma'am and our vice principal, Hetal ma'am along with the current head girl of the school, inside the room.

"Please take a seat children" Hetal ma'am said.

We both took a seat and in front of us, the head boy and head girl took their seats.

Wait, vice principal is here. Are we in some kind of trouble?

But I don't think I did something to get myself into trouble.

"Please be relaxed children. You didn't do anything. We just want to talk with you about something" She continued.

"So, as you know... " Hetal ma'am began speaking.

"Why does something feel fishy" Kush leaned over and whispered to me.

"Yeah I feel like something is up too" I whispered back.

"So, we would like if you both would register for the student Council as you both are the school toppers and are the perfect match for being the head boy and head girl" Hetal ma'am finished speaking.

I should have known it. Me and Kush being called, with us both not having registered for the student council, I should have seen it coming.

Whatever though, they can't force me to register if I don't want to.

"Ma'am actually, I have already registered for the position of discipline head" Kush said.

When did he? He said he is not going to be a part of the council.

Traitor. Liar.

I will talk with him later.

"Oh is it" Hetal ma'am asked.

"Yes ma'am" He said.

"Dear, why not the head boy? You are the perfect match for it" Arpita ma'am said.

"Yes. You would make a good head boy" The head boy said.

"Umm, ma'am, not to be rude or anything but I don't think I can handle the responsibilities of a head boy" Kush said.

"Okay. No problem dear" Hetal ma'am said.

"What about you Parthi" Arpita ma'am asked me.

"Ma'am, I don't want to register for council" I said as politely as I could.

"Why dear" Hetal ma'am asked me.

"Ma'am, I want to focus on my studies and I feel like it would affect my studies" I said.

"But you should. You know, you make the perfect candidate for the head girl" Arpita ma'am said.

"Yes, you have the personality and aura that a head girl would require" The head girl said.

"I am sorry ma'am but I don't want to participate. I don't think I can handle the responsibilities that come with being the head girl" I said.

"But dear, just give it a thought" Arpita ma'am said.

"I have thought about it ma'am" I said politely.

"Just think about it carefully Parthi" Arpita ma'am said in an insisting tone.

"It's okay ma'am" Hetal ma'am interrupted.

"It's her choice to be or not to be the head girl. If she doesn't want to be then we shouldn't force her. In the end, it is her decision and we should respect it" Hetal ma'am said.

"It's okay dear. You can go now" Hetal ma'am said.

Me and Kush got up from our seats and walked back to our class.

"How did she let you go so easily" Kush said to me as we were walking towards our class.

"Even I am thinking the same" I said.

Our vice principal was the kind of person who would try her best to make you accept her decision.

And her letting me go so easily, was kind of weird.

"By the way. When did you register for the council. You traitor" I said.

"Uh. You see. I just wanted to see how it felt being in the council so I just signed up for it" Kush said a bit nervously.

"Then why did you say you weren't going to sign up for it. You liar" I said.

"Well, I was originally not going to, but then I was just so intrigued by it that I ended up registering myself" He said with a sigh.
