[P. Jihyo]
Baby, are you okay?
Why didn't you pick up my call?
[Y/N]
I'm okay, I'm feeling a little sick.
But I'm alright.
[P. Jihyo]
What are your symptoms? Do you need to see a doctor?
I can ask one of the girls to take you.
[Y/N]
Just a cold.
I'm really okay, baby.
Go enjoy your fashion show.
Jihyo reluctantly let it go when you didn't really answer her questions. Her manager had told her that the fashion show will be starting in a few minutes so she needs to put her phone away.
On the other side of the world, you were quite sure that your time is up on this Earth. You're shivering, having cold sweat, your throat is so sore you couldn't really talk, your nose is behaving like a water tap and you're amazed you haven't coughed your lungs out yet.
You didn't want Jihyo to worry about you when she's working and literally on the other side of the world. Instead of making her worry, you're determined to recover from whatever you have by the time Jihyo comes home.
It didn't help when Jihyo is constantly calling you, wanting to know how you're doing. You feel bad that you're not answering, but if Jihyo hears your voice, she's not going to have good nights' sleep until she's home.
So when you don't pick up the phone again three hours later, Jihyo called her best friend Jeongyeon.
"Why is [Y/N] not answering my calls?"
"How would I know why your girlfriend is not answering your calls? Did you do something wrong? Are you in the shitter? Did you make her jealous by talking to other women? There are a million reasons why she's not answering, Jihyo. There's also probably an answer that you're looking for that I can't give you."
"Yoo Jeongyeon, I swear to God I will fly back to Korea right now and kill you if you don't start being serious."
Jihyo could hear Jeongyeon laughing over the phone. Her best friend cleared her throat a few times before saying, "should I go check on her?"
"Yes, that would be great."
"Then you should've told me you wanted me to check on her in the first place."
Jeongyeon ended the call before Jihyo could say anything back, and Jihyo just shook her head at her best friend's antics.
You heard the door knock and knew it was one of the girls. Jihyo must have told one of them to check on you because you weren't answering her calls.
You wore a mask before opening the door, as you didn't want to pass whatever you're having to the girl behind the door.
"Oh, hey, Jeong." You let Jeongyeon in.
"I'm on a mission to check on you and bring you warm food a sick person should be having." Jeongyeon waved the bags she was holding.
"I'll have them later, I don't really have an appetite right now." You said in your hoarse voice. Your throat scratchy as hell.
"You really should have at least a few mouthful of the abalone porridge, [Y/N]. You've lost so much weight, Jihyo will feel bad if she saw you like this when she gets back." Now Jeongyeon is as worried as Jihyo, seeing you in your current state.
"I promise I'll have them later." You laid down on the couch, closing your eyes.
"So, um... I'm gonna tell Jihyo whatever you're having, okay?"
Your eyes opened wide, and you quickly got up, causing everything around you to spin. "No!"
"Believe it or not, Jihyo will be less worried if she knew what you're having. She won't be freaking out like she was a few hours ago."
"Are you sure?"
"What did you tell her that you have?"
"Just a cold." You shrugged.
Jeongyeon laughed, "Oh, I'm pretty sure she'll be freaking out even more."
"Jeong! You said she won't freak out!"
"Yeah, that was before I knew what you told her."
You knew Jeongyeon won't lie to Jihyo, so you prepare yourself for Jihyo's phone calls later on.
—
As if on cue, Jihyo's phone call came through the moment you lie down on your bed. You read the time and yup, the fashion show must have ended and Jihyo must have just gotten back to her hotel room.
"Hey," you answered in your nasally voice.
"Baby?! Are you okay? You don't sound so good," Jihyo's worried voice tugged on your heartstrings a little.
"Jihyo, I love you, but you need to lower your voice, my head is pounding, but I'm okay. I managed to have a few mouthful of the porridge Jeongyeon got me and took some medication." You held your head. The pounding in your head seemed to worsen.
"Oh, my poor baby. I'm actually whispering so I don't disturb manager unnie in the adjoining room." Jihyo laughed lightly.
"You're what?! I didn't even know you can whisper with your normal voice already sounding like a speaker." You smirked even though Jihyo couldn't see you. Weirdly enough, Jihyo knew you were smirking.
"I know you're trying not to worry me, but it's not working, babe. I'm already packing up. Manager unnie got us the next flight out of here. I should be on the plane in three to four hours."
"What... Jihyo, no... you should be enjoying yourself in Paris... not come home and take care of a sick and gross girlfriend." You whined, feeling guilty.
"As if I can enjoy myself knowing you're sick back home. I'm coming back, baby. Promise me you'll take care of yourself in the meantime? I told Jeongyeon to go over tonight to keep an eye on you."
You sighed, knowing that Jihyo is just communicating with you and not asking for your opinions or giving you a choice. "I promise. I miss you, baby."
"I miss you too. I promise I'll be there when you wake up."
Jihyo made a kissing sound to her phone speaker and you did the same.
Shortly after the phone call, you fell asleep and looking forward to seeing Jihyo's face when you wake up a few hours later.
