Faint light seeped through the curtains, casting soft shadows across the room. I tossed and turned, trying to cling to the remnants of sleep. As I slowly woke up, memories of the previous day came rushing back. The gunfight, rescuing Ford, and then... Gemini.
I opened my eyes fully, staring at the ceiling as I recalled how he had helped me last night. Despite my irritation, he had insisted on staying. I remembered his sudden outburst, the sternness in his voice when he told me to shut up and let him take care of me. I still can't believe I let that man walk around my whole room, open drawers as he wanted to get the thermometer-I was too exhausted to yell on him, I just sat there trying to move his hands away and ignore him, hoping he'd go away.
UHH!
I have to stop letting that dude get into my head
I rubbed my face trying to push away the thoughts that invaded me. My room was quiet. I sat up, feeling the dull ache of the fever still lingering but much less intense than before. I glanced around, half expecting to see Gemini still there, maybe on the couches or on the sitting area down the small corridor in the room, but of course, he was gone.
Forget It Fourth, Just fucking forget it and ignore him.
I swung my legs over the side of the bed, feeling the cool floor beneath my feet. My phone lay on the bedside table, and I picked it up, seeing a few missed messages from my mom, no doubt checking on Ford and me. She probably had to leave for her work early today. I replied her after which I got up. I brushed my teeth as I walked out to got to Ford's room.
We both were too tired to get back to Uni today, so we decided to skip it and stay back. We called P'Phu, convincing him to not go too (I know it sounds childish but if we aren't going, why will P'Phu anyways), Despite P'Phu's initial reluctance, we were still half successful cause P'Phu had to attend Uni for a special class and then would join us in an hour.
Training sessions resumed, and P'Phuwin met Gemini for the first time. To my surprise, they got along well. P'Phu even seemed to like him, which was baffling to me. I couldn't wrap my head around how someone as irritating as Gemini could win over P'Phu so easily.
When I had said that to P'Phu I remember him smacking my head slightly, "You have some beef with him, not everyone else does. He has quite a cool side too", he said as I was rubbing my head.
"He has a cool side"
Yeah sure
Just like I have 7 hands
Gemini, for his part, kept his distance but remained attentive. He asked about my health a few times, to which I responded with a curt nod, determined to keep my interactions with him minimal. Despite my efforts, he seemed to find ways to insert himself into my day.
The rest of the week flew by in a blur. We joined back Uni drowning into assignments again. The days passed by quickly.
On one of the afternoon, during a particularly grueling training session, I noticed Gemini watching from the sidelines. His gaze was intense, as if he were analyzing every move I made. It was infuriating, but I couldn't deny that it pushed me to work harder. By the end of the session, I was exhausted but felt a strange sense of accomplishment.
Another day, while I was sparring with P'Phuwin, Gemini approached us with a smirk. "You could improve your stance," he said, pointing out a flaw in my technique. I wanted to snap at him, tell him to mind his own business, but something in his tone made me pause. He wasn't mocking; he was....maybe.....trying to help, surprising- Reluctantly, I adjusted my stance, and to my annoyance, it did make a difference.
