GEMINI'S POV:-
The hospital loomed ahead, a beacon of hope and dread in the night. I some how parked the car quickly and the moment I unlocked the door, Fourth leaped out of the car, practically running towards the main entrance.
I called out for him, but my voice seemed to vanish into the night. Locking the car, I dashed after him, pushing through the sliding doors of the hospital. The sterile smell and bright lights were a harsh contrast to the chaos we had just left behind.
Inside, the bustling activity of the emergency department did nothing to quell the tension in my chest. Fourth was at the reception desk, his face a mask of frantic worry. I could hear snippets of his anguished pleas, asking about the accident victims.
I stepped in, trying to take control of the situation. "Excuse me," I said firmly to the receptionist, who looked overwhelmed by Fourth's urgency. "We need information about the accident victims. Can you tell us where they are?"
The receptionist hesitated, glancing nervously between Fourth's frantic face and mine. "I'm sorry, but I can't give out any information without proper authorization."
Frustration bubbled up inside me. I knew time was of the essence. "This is an emergency. We need to know where they are right now. Please, just help us.", my tone seemed dangerously stern
The receptionist, clearly distressed, picked up the phone and made a call. I could see her talking rapidly into the receiver, her face a mix of worry and reluctance. After what felt like an eternity, a doctor in scrubs emerged from a nearby corridor, looking serious but calm.
Fourth wasted no time and rushed towards the doctor, his voice cracking with desperation. "Please, those are my parents! Where are they?"
The doctor's expression turned grave as he took a deep breath. "The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The man retrieved from the back seat is in critical condition in the ICU. We're working to stabilize him, but his chances are slim."
The news hit like a sledgehammer. Fourth's face went ashen, and he staggered slightly. I quickly moved to support him, my hands gripping his shoulders to steady him.
I turned to the doctor, trying to keep my voice steady despite the weight of the situation. "And the lady? What about the lady who was in the back seat?"
The doctor's face tightened even more. He took another deep breath, as if bracing himself. "She was also in the back seat. She was not breathing when we retrieved her. Despite our efforts, she was pronounced dead. Her body has not yet been moved to the morgue; we're waiting for the police to arrive for identification purposes."
The words seemed to echo in the sterile, brightly lit hallway. I tightened my grip on Fourth, trying to offer some semblance of support as he struggled to process the devastating news.
The hospital around us seemed to blur into a background noise, the sterile white walls and bustling staff a stark contrast to the raw, emotional turmoil unfolding in front of me. Fourth's anguish was palpable.
I turned back to the doctor, my voice tinged with urgency. "We need to get to the morgue or wherever they're keeping the bodies. Please, is there any way to expedite the identification process?"
The doctor nodded, though his face remained somber. The doctor looked around for a second, "Come with me" he said, his tone serious. I held onto Fourth's hand trying to make my way to follow the doctor.
As the doctor led us down the cold, sterile corridor toward the morgue, Fourth's steps were heavy, each one weighed down by the crushing reality of what lay ahead. My heart ached for him, the intensity of his silent struggle palpable in the tense air between us. His face was a mask of profound grief, eyes staring straight ahead as if trying to brace himself against the unbearable truth.
