Chapter-49

Her eyes flickered open with the soothing voice of her mother and Avni found out she was in her lap. She was caressing her hair and calling her name.

"Avni..... How are you feeling now?" Her mother asked.

Her face  lit up as she saw her but suddenly reality struck her mind and she instantly looked at the couch to see if Vikrant was still there.

She took a sigh when saw the couch empty.

Thank God....he is not here. If Ma would have seen him sleeping there....what would she have thought, she would have definitely questioned him......I have already hurt Vikrant....I don't want him to suffer more because of me. She got lost in her thoughts.

"Avni....what happened beta? Are you okay?...." Her mother asked with concerns. Avni looked at her face. There were creases of tension on her forehead and her eyes were filled with thousands of question.

"Avni,   Is something happened between you and Vikrant?... You both were looking upset yesterday. I didn't ask anything last night because I thought everything will be fine but I guess nothing is fine. I am getting worried now..." She asked in a heavy voice.

It was so hard for Avni to hide anything from her mother but she knew Vikrant doesn't want anyone to know what exactly happened and Avni too didn't want to make her sad. She was her responsibility after her father. Her unconditional love was what she needed the most . She buried herself deep in her embrace and once again closed her eyes.

"Ma.... Why am I so stupid?" She asked slowly while clutching her tightly.

"Huh? Stupid? Who said this to you? Vikrant?" She questioned.

"Nooo... He didn't... But....." She paused.

"Avniiii.... First get up and tell me clearly.... What's going on?" She ordered.

"No.... I like staying this way....." Avni refused and dig into her even more tightly..

Her mother couldn't help but chuckled at her response. She kissed her temple with affection and said.

"Avni... I know you are too young to understand this but being your mother I have to guide you. Look, I know your marriage is not like any other conventional marriage. The way you both got married and the age gap between you two, it's obvious to have different opinions and thinking. What's good according to Vikrant could be useless for you and vice versa but one thing no one can deny... He is your husband, Avni..." She made her point and Avni just nodded in agreement.

"Avni, When a girl gets married the only thing that she wants is,  a caring, loving and supportive husband, who respects her and during these past days I saw how much he cares for you. The way he looks at you anyone could tell how much you mean to him...." She said and her eyes welled up with tears of happiness.

"Avni.....you know, you are so lucky.... No one can be better than him for you and you are not stupid okay!" She said and kissed her forehead who was looking at her with tear filled eyes.

"Look beta..." She cupped her face and continued.
"I know both of you are going through something and you are hesitating to tell me and to be honest I am glad that you are trying to solve things yourself. I also believe one shouldn't interfere in matters of husband and wife, even if they are their parents. So unless you  want my help, I won't  interfere  but always remember, I am always there for you. You are my daughter and I know my daughter. I have full faith in you.. I know you can handle everything. Ups and downs are the part of life... It's up to you how courageously you take it and you have all the qualities, Avni... So don't ever think low of yourself... I am so proud of you...." She said and tears rolled down on her cheeks.
