When the doctors gave up on Roger, announcing his time of death as 02:37am, Viv sighed with relief. She'd never felt happier and she'd never felt more ashamed of herself. As she left the room, exhausted, she started running towards the changing rooms. When she spotted a familiar figure standing at the end of the hallway she stopped in her tracks.
Several seconds passed by before Viv started to approach the figure slowly. Siobhan was sobbing, her arms wrapped protectively around her own body. She was staring into Vivs eyes, silently pleading with her. Viv threw her arms around the blond, immediately causing Siobhan to collapse against her. The two women had only know each other for a matter of weeks but the intensity of their connection had taken them both by surprise.
All Viv wanted to do was protect Siobhan and show her genuine love and affection. As she stroked her hair she whispered "what happened? What did he do to you?" She'd heard Siobhan's sobs so many times before, but it never got any easier. "He saw your text messages. He was trying to kill me Viv, he had his hands around my neck. He was so angry, but then he just stopped. He collapsed and I didn't know what to do." Her words were choked out between tears, but as Viv rubbed her back the blond started to calm.
"It's over, he's dead." Viv felt Siobhan's legs give way beneath her so she knelt down on the floor with her, holding her the entire time. As she rocked the blonds fragile body back and forth, a rush of gentle yet desperate love washed over her. No matter how defiant Siobhan was, no matter how high a wall she tried to build Viv just couldn't let her go. Watching Siobhan wither away due to Roger's abuse had been torturous, and she felt nothing but ecstasy knowing that in the end his own pathetic, evil heart had failed him.
Eventually, Siobhan looked up and into Viv's eyes once again. For the millionth time, Viv was struck by just how gorgeous Siobhan really was. She'd never told her that because she didn't ever want to make the blond feel uncomfortable. Siobhan had been treated like a toy repeatedly throughout her life, never understanding how to connect with those around her. She felt Siobhan's hands clutching her waist, frantically searching for comfort and warmth.
Viv was determined to fix her. She wanted to rebuild her friend's heart and fill it with love and laughter.
From now on, Siobhan was safe by her side.
Viv was going to resuscitate her.
