Siobhan was excited. It was a Friday night and she was getting ready to go out with Marjorie and the girls from work. She'd never been invited to anything like this before and she was pleased that her attempts to connect with those around her were paying off. For years she'd been snappy and unfriendly with her colleagues, preferring to keep a safe distance and avoid making friends. As her relationship with Roger had become more suffocating however, she'd developed a habit of watching people's instagram stories like a hawk and upsetting herself as she observed their nights out, shopping trips and get-togethers from her lonely tower. On more than one occasion she'd ended up in tears, wishing she knew what it felt like to have a support system. Now, she was finally starting to build one, her own little village of people who cared about her.

As Siobhan smoothed down her dress she sighed and shook her head slightly. For a while, Roger had managed to convince her that her body wasn't good enough, making her feel self conscious and inadequate. Over the last few months however, Viv had helped Siobhan understand that he was simply trying to hold her down and prevent her from realising how much more she deserved from life and a partner. Every single day without fail, Viv called Siobhan beautiful and she touched the blonds body as if it were the most precious thing in the world. She did everything she could to make Siobhan smile and she was grateful for everything the blond did for her in return. When Viv was working, Siobhan would make her lunch for her the night before, always making sure to add a little note for the nurse to find the next day. Everything they did for each other, they genuinely wanted to, because they chose to be together.

It was seven o'clock and Siobhan knew that Marjorie and Reece would be coming to collect her soon so she could go to theirs for pre drinks. She smiled as she thought about the couple, Marjorie had told her that despite the fact it was girls night, Reece was insistent on picking people up as well as dropping them off at the end of the night. He was so sweet and caring and Siobhan felt glad that Marjorie had found someone like him. She grabbed her little black and silver bag before taking one last look in the mirror and heading out into the hallway and downstairs. She could hear Jamie babbling as he watched cartoons, as well as Viv putting plates away and cleaning the kitchen.

Viv was just finishing up when she heard Siobhan's voice behind her. "I'm ready, do you like it?" The older woman turned to look at the blond and proceeded to say - absolutely nothing. Her eyes widened as she processed what she was seeing. Siobhan was wearing a black, body con dress with long sleeves and a plunging v shaped neckline. It was slightly longer than knee length and it hugged her curves perfectly, showcasing her feminine shape. Her shoes were silver high heels with little ankle straps and she'd painted her nails a beautiful ruby red colour. Instead of a necklace, Siobhan had chosen a silver body chain that sat directly on top of her breasts, following their shape, with part of the chain dropping down between them and under her dress.

As Viv looked up and into Siobhan's eyes, she was torn from her muddled thoughts immediately. The blonds face had dropped and she was holding her bag protectively in front of her stomach. "You don't like it, do you?" Siobhan's voice was barely more than a whisper as she looked down at the floor. "It's too revealing isn't it?" She continued, taking a small step back. Immediately, Viv closed the gap between them and placed her hands on Siobhan's hips gently. "Baby, please look at me." As soon as she asked Siobhan obliged, once again looking directly into her girlfriend's eyes. Viv was taller than her but because of her high heels for once they were almost the same height.

Viv placed one hand gently on Siobhan's cheek, before trailing her fingers down to her collarbone. "You are so, so gorgeous Siobhan. I'm sorry I didn't say anything when I saw you, you took my breath away and I couldn't form a coherent thought." As she watched Siobhan start to smile in response she began to fiddle with the silver body chain that adorned the blond's chest. "Really?" Siobhan asked before continuing "I made you speechless?" Viv nodded as she smiled warmly before replying "of course you did, have you seen yourself?" As she wrapped her arm around Siobhan's body, placing it on her lower back lightly, she proceeded to gently press their foreheads together and take a deep breath. "Sometimes Siobhan, I can't believe that you're mine."

A lot of things in life had never made sense to
Viv and she suspected that they never would. The thing that had and would continue to confuse her was how anybody could hurt Siobhan. Nothing about Roger's behaviour towards the blond would ever make sense to Viv. Roger had been given the opportunity to love Siobhan, to hold her and make her happy. The blond had been willing to let that monster touch her, all he had to do was be gentle and he couldn't even manage that. He should have been thanking every possible God each and every time he woke up next to the beautiful blond, so soft and warm, ready to be taken care of and adored. The audacity of that man would never cease to amaze Viv, what had made him think that he had the right to make Siobhan cry or damage her body?

Once again Viv was torn from her thoughts by Siobhan's voice. "I'm honoured to be yours Viv. It's the thing I'm most proud of." Suddenly, Siobhan smiled brightly and said "I want to show you something, it's a surprise for you." With that, the blond stepped backwards slightly before turning around, allowing Viv to see the back of her head. She'd pulled her hair back at the sides and pinned it there with two bobby pins. They were silver, both adorned with little diamond gems and one large emerald gem. They'd been a gift from Viv, she loved seeing Siobhan's hair pinned back because it meant she could see the blonds beautiful face properly, but she hardly ever wore it like that. In fact, this was the first time she'd used the pins and Viv was so pleased to finally see them sparkling amongst Siobhan's lovely hair.

As Siobhan turned back to face Viv, the nurse beamed at her. "They look beautiful baby, thank you for wearing them. I love it when you have your hair like that, you're so gorgeous." Just as Siobhan wrapped her arms around Viv and pressed herself against her girlfriend's body, her phone dinged. "Oh, that'll be Marjorie and Reece." With that being Siobhan kissed Viv lightly before adding "I don't think I'll be back too late but don't feel like you have to wait up for me, I don't want you to be tired tomorrow." Just before she hurried off, Viv once again placed her hand on Siobhan's hip before kissing her on the tip of her nose. For some reason that always made the blond giggle and blush and Viv thought it was the most adorable thing in the world.

As she giggled, Siobhan began to make her way out of the house. As she passed Jamie on the sofa she crouched down briefly and kissed him on the head. "Bye Jamie, I'll see you tomorrow." Jamie beamed up at her as she stood up, proceeding to ask "will you watch cartoons with me in the morning?" Siobhan nodded in response and laughed before heading outside. As she climbed into Reece's car she looked back and saw Viv at the window, holding Jamie in her arms as he waved furiously. For the first time in her life Siobhan was surrounded by people who loved her. She was starting to like herself, not just her body but more importantly her soul and her heart.

Siobhan was becoming the woman she'd always had the potential to be.

And she liked her a lot.
