"A mother does not need to be blood to be a mother nor does a sister need to be your keeper, but both are meant to protect you even from yourself most of the time"

With the upcoming call from her adoptive mother Samantha took the week leading up to it to compose herself, she knew the call was not going to go her way as she sister was a snitch, and not just any snitch, Vicky basically took screenshots of her entire conversation with her partner and not only that she figured out that while they stayed in the small apartment that they had shared Vicky had taken to hiding audio devices to hear every conversation as she did not feel comfortable enough leaving her sister alone with her two kids with Brian.

It was now however different since she had her own small private place and Vicky now knew that she was safe, they finally had a home together and her son could be with her something Samantha could understand completely as even leaving her kids at school made her feel restricted in many ways and worried for their wellbeing.

Also the lawyer had been extremely quiet on her biological mother's front, Samantha could not care less about it either as her kids was with her and her alone, but the most amazing part however was the fact that no matter what she was going through it was her online friends that pulled her out of the abyss of her life and just got her to play with them while they teased one other in the best ways possible.

Samantha waited watching her phone thinking about all this waiting for her adoptive mother to call until another thought struck her, her relationship for her it was on shaky ground or at least that is what she thought as well since she had not been in contact with Matthew since the argument. Things was tense there even with Charmaine now asking her if she was going to speak to him Samantha could only say that he was busy because she did not want to get her daughter's hopes up.

Finally, her phone rang as she quickly answered and placed her earphones in her ears so she could be hands free and the silence that followed was thick that she could not take it anymore.

"Mom— Sorry"

"I am just, what were you thinking Samantha?!"

there is was her adoptive mother was not angry, she was upset, she knew how Samantha was and always tried to protect her even at a distance, but it only worked if Samantha was open with her and most of the time when it came to her relationship or the instance when Brian showed up her door there was just no time.

Samantha "I don't know, Brian just showed up and told me he got kicked out, mom you know if I can give shelter I will and with Matt, things are OK"

"Then tell me, what is going on?!"

Samantha looked around, her place was spotless even her ashtray nothing was out of place she had packed out in two days wiped, scrubbed and cleaned everywhere, every crevice, her nerves was getting to her badly that she started picking her nails and what started small trickle ended up being a damn that had burst when it came to speaking about her kids, her mother, everything, her emotions got the best of her and Samantha had to go outside to speak since her voice had risen considerably but what she had not realized that not knowing what was happening with the proceedings got to her more than she believed.

When she was done Samantha was on the verge of tears that her voice broke:

"Ma, sorry I did not mean to over work I did not know that it will get like this, and I love working where I am, things, things just got too much, and I forgot."

Samantha heard a sigh at the other side of the call like her adoptive mother blew out the anger that she had been holding, she also knew that it wasn't for her, as she lit her smoke, she heard her adoptive mother shuffle downstairs speak to her uncle before hearing the door open and the lighter before hearing her mother inhale deeply.
