"If Love it but a memory, I would rather stay in the past, if bliss was but a dream then I choose to never wake"
Samantha sat on the couch two days later and once again asked herself if what her and Matthew had was just a dream.
That night was perfect everything she could expect and much more although she did not approve of renting out the restaurant but the effort behind everything else was magical, Vicky had told her that besides the restaurant everything else was either used or bought at a deal.
The fact remained this was not the Matthew that she knew, the Matthew she knew would ignore her in a room while he was playing games, she would message him first hoping for something more than short or one worded answer, that night was different, it was a conversation that flowed, laughter that echoed and the warm budding feeling that she thought was extinguished somehow sprouted into a warm glow.
Even after that he would be the first one to text her with sweet messages and telling her where he would be or what he would be doing and always the made sure to call so that she would fall asleep to his voice as they spoke before ending a call, this was what she wanted but now she could not believe that it was a reality.
Sighing Samantha shook her head and placed her cup of coffee down before opening up her laptop, surely work would keep her mind preoccupied rather than mulling over the minute details and stressing over the fact that this is more than a ploy and not the real deal, even with the message that she sent him.
It was late afternoon when Samantha's phone rang and without looking at the caller ID on her phone which she normally does at any given time, she just answered it until the shrieking voice had her phone away as she cursed herself for answering, the shrieking continued as she placed it down placed one of her books on top and walked away into the kitchen to make something for her and her kids to eat.
The caller however was none other than her mother, after the court battle to which Caitlyn had lost, she kept phoning her nonstop since then leaving messages of apologies and empty threats, Luckily Samantha had learned her lesson and started recording all her calls, should something happen to her there was evidence.
Caitlyn was not the only one to call as she had blocked both Henry and Richard's calls as well, since they knew her number they would often phone from different numbers all together and try antagonize Samantha into saying and doing something that they could hold against her but being the pacifist that she was she normally would place the phone on the table and walk away until she learned, placing one of her thick work files that she had created to keep up with the clientele was the perfect solution to still stay in her home and do what she wanted rather than either walking out or throwing the cursed thing against the wall.
Another reason why she did not change her number was because Samantha as everyone knew her was stubborn, she had, had the number for years and just got her daughter to memorize it and changing her number now would not only confuse her child but if there was an emergency Charmaine would not know what her number is or how to contact her.
The screaming subsided and Samantha removed the book and placed her ear pods in her ears and cleared her throat.
"I understand that you are upset with the verdict but Caitlyn you tried to have both of my children taken away from me when you know how important they are to me, I will not be retracting anything and as the judge had stated if Charmaine and Charls want to see you and I have no objection then we will see you in a controlled environment"
Samantha took a breath as she heard the sound of sniffing on the other side, she knew that this time she needed to stay strong in herself and her conviction.
