It's been a few years since Sae had been staying with the Ubuyashiki family. Sae talks more than she used to, Kagaya was happy about it, he loved listening to her talk about her day, her likes and dislikes. Sae spent most of her time at the pond where she first met Kagaya.
One day Sae was walking around the butterfly estate helping out the injured demon slayers. Some ruckus outside caught her attention so she went to see what it was. She walked outside where the demon slayers train to regain their strength. She noticed how some were barely holding it together while some others were thriving. One of the demon slayers she knew walked by Sae and sat down for a break. "Oh i'm sorry Sae didn't see you there, how are you"? She looked at the boy seeing how exhausted he was. " I'm alright Suyoshi just heard a lot of noise and wanted to see what was going on". She said while looking up. "oh i see, we all fought really hard last mission many of us got injured, most of us didn't make it...". He held his head down. " I'm sorry to hear that, i'm glad to see your still training". Suyoshi lifts his head and looks up at Sae. "You know Sae, someone as fearless as you would do well as a demon slayer, you ever think of joining"? Sae thinks for a moment "I don't know I wouldn't say i'm fearless at all, i'm just weak, I can't fight my fears, I don't see a point in joining". Suyoshi was confused how could she think that way. He saw her differently, despite being older than her she had more courage than he ever did and he was proud to say it. "Well whatever, you know I don't think you're weak, no one here does, but hey, I won't force you to join. Just think, wouldn't it be great to fight along side me"? Sae slightly smiled at the fact. She adored Suyoshi he was a goofy kid who cheered her up, he's like an older brother. "Hmmm i'm sure it would be great maybe one day".
Sae had said goodbye and good luck to Suyoshi, he was back on his feet to go to his next mission. "ILL BE BACK I CANT WAIT TO HAVE MORE OF YOUR DELICIOUS COOKING"! He said waving. What he said had her thinking, but she had no desire to see a demon again. Being a demon slayer would mean she would have to face them everyday. She liked her place here at the butterfly estate, everyone adores and respects Sae. She loved visiting Kagaya and the family when she could. So she saw no point in leaving, that is until Suyoshi never came back to visit.
Sae was devastated, her crow Tani reported to her that Suyoshi died trying to save his companions from a lower moon. She never thought she would feel this way again. If only she was there with him by his side.... maybe he would still be here.... That's when she had decided to do the very thing she never thought she would have to do. She rose from the ground and walked to the Ubuyashiki mansion.
