Sae was nervous, what if kagaya refused. Her mind was everywhere, thinking of what to say that could convince him to let her do this. Sadly on her way all she could think of was Suyoshi and the memories they had together. From the moment they met to the first time she held his sword to the time he told her stories, everything.

Flashback

"Sae I need your, help many demon slayers are injured". Kanae said quickly. Sae was currently making food and stopped to go help. She walked quickly, once she reached the room there was 5 injured men. She spotted one trying to get up on his own and rushed to help him. "Sir you really shouldn't stand up please lay down your foot is broken"! The boy ignored her. "No I can't sit here, they still need our help ahh-"! Sae forcefully pushed him back down on the bed. "I said lay down I may be small but I am stronger than you! now what's your name"? He was amazed the girl was so little yet she was strong enough to hold him down. "I- uhhh just call me Suyoshi Miss". Sae was examining his foot, definitely broken. "Alright Suyoshi i'm Sae i'll be treating you until you're back on your feet and you better listen to me got it". In all honesty she terrified him. "Yeah yeah you got it".

Few weeks later

"SAEEEE"! Suyoshi yelled from the room. "Ughhh Suyoshi I told you already you'll get your udon later you already had 5 bowls"! She whined, this kid has some appetite. "That's not why I called look"! He pointed to his foot and walked around happily jumping into the air to show he was no longer injured. "Oh that's great news, that's means you can start your total concentration constant training". She said with a straight face. " Aww man not again.... WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE THAT AT LEAST LOOK A LITTLE HAPPY"! He yells feeling hurtful, he's never seen her smile or laugh or cry, nothing. "..... I am overjoyed that you're better, I just always look like this". She looks at Suyoshi who seems irritated. "I don't get it why? It doesn't hurt to show a little emotion once in a while". "Look I just don't alright. why does it bother you"? "I bet I can get you to laugh that's my new mission and I won't fail". He says with confidence and a smile. Sae wondered if he actually could.

End of Flashback

Sae met eyes with Amane and sighed. "I'd like to speak with Kagaya please". She nodded and led her where Kagaya was. He was in the garden as usual, his sickness was getting bad. Part of his eye was slightly infected. Sae bows to him, then sits next to him and lays her head on his lap. "My child i've just heard, I am terribly sorry is there anything I can do". He says as he pats her head. Sae laid in silence, a few moments passed and she rose from his lap. "I- I have made a decision..... I want to join the demon slayer corps". She did not dare look at Kagaya in the eye. "My child why do you wish to become a demon slayer"? Sae looked at him with tears in her eyes. He then noticed she was feeling emotions. The last time that happened was the day she was saved. "Kagaya please forgive me but I can't sit back and let people I care about get slaughtered....... I'm done being afraid I want to help". She was surprised to see that he smiled and agreed. He knew one day she would choose this path and he accepted the fact it did indeed happen so he sent his crow with a message to a retired hashira, now waiting for an answer.

A few days later

   Sae was at the butterfly estate cleaning and preparing the rooms for the demon slayers. The battle with Suyoshi was a ways away and everyone is just now coming back. Sae heard that the battle was disastrous many died. She hoped Suyoshi wasn't in any pain it seemed like every mission he went to, he was always came back with a broken bone. Nonetheless, Sae was more than happy to treat him.

Flashback

Sae and Suyoshi were eating together outside the butterfly estate waiting for his new sword to come. He had lost it during a fight with a demon. "Suyoshi how's your food"? He looked at her with a smile "it's good, you never fail to amaze me with your delicious food, thank you". Sae slightly smiled "Hmm i'm glad, I enjoy cooking for you". Suyoshi looks at her noticing she's more comfortable with him, anytime someone saw Sae smile it was like a blessing, a sight everyone wanted to see. "I wonder why she's like this, i've never thought to ask what happened to her, i've known her for about 2 years now.....wait". "Hey Sae isn't tomorrow your birthday"? Sae's smile disappeared, She's not very fond of her birthday because that's the day..... it all  changed. "Yes it is, no need to trouble yourself with that though i'm surprised you remembered". He noticed her mood changed he wanted to press further on the matter but he didn't.

Later that day

Sae was getting ready to leave for the Ubuyashiki mansion, she walked slowly to the doors. She noticed someone was outside training. It was Suyoshi, he was always training hard, before Sae met him apparently he wasn't motivated and he never trained so hard in his life. Sae wondered what changed. "Suyoshi can I ask you something". He stopped hitting the dummies with his new sword and looked at her. "Yeah sure, what's on your mind"? Sae took a moment to decide what to say. "Why do you train so hard, i've never understood why some demon slayer fight so hard, when they will die anyway. So please tell me, aren't you scared to die"? Suyoshi was shocked and there it was the smile of his. "Sae... before we met I was the worst of demon slayers, I would cower away and run, I was weak and I hated it , But you showed me I shouldn't be afraid I wanted to be more like you. You're strong and confident, I envy that, so I pushed myself to become stronger so instead of you protecting me I'll protect you and others. So now the answer is no, I'm not scared to die cause I know that it'll be to protect you". Sae was confused, why her, what did she ever do until, she remembered, the other demon slayer used to loath Suyoshi for being a coward, they told him to leave the demon slayer corps, they said he was useless and so on. Sae didn't like it so she stood up for him. "I see.... I wish my parents were as strong as you, maybe they would still be here". Suyoshi never heard her talk about her parents before now he knows why. "Hey Sae don't think like that i'm sure your parents were very strong just like you, I promise nothing like that will happen again as long as i'm here".  Sae then began to cry a lot, she hasn't cried not even on the day of her parents death, it was just built up until now. "AHHH NO SAE I DIDNT MEAN TO UPSET YOU FORGIVE ME"! He was bowing repeatedly in a panic state.

Her birthday

It was a peaceful day. Sae was at the koi pond once again just watching the fish swim. She was now 14 years old. Her pretty long white hair with light blue tips lays on her back. Her golden eyes shined bright. Sae smiled more but only with people she's close to. She chose to stop letting the past get to her after what Suyoshi had said. It was just a normal day to her. She notice some people in the garden with Kagaya. A tall White haired man, along with Kanae. Sae was curious, she doesn't really socialize with demon slayers besides Kanae and Gyomei so she walked up to them. She bowed at Kagaya. "Good morning Kagaya, Good morning Kanae, how are you sir "? Kagaya Smiled "I'm well my child, Sae let me introduce you to Tengen Usui , he's gonna be a new demon slayer". Sae looked up at the young man. "Pleased to meet you, i'm Sae Ubuyashiki, welcome". Usui bowed knowing her name, it would be disrespectful not to. "Good morning miss Sae a pleasure it is to meet you"!

•Suyoshi is getting together some of Sae's favorite foods for her birthday, sadly he's not good at cooking

• Tengen respects Sae, although her relationship with Ubuyashiki is different than with anyone else.Also thinks she's very adorable
