Sae was nervous, what if kagaya refused. Her mind was everywhere, thinking of what to say that could convince him to let her do this. Sadly, on her way all she could think of was Suyoshi and the memories they had together. From the moment they met to the first time she held his sword to the time he told her stories, everything.

Flashback

"Sae I need your, help many demon slayers are injured". Kanae said quickly. Sae was currently making food and stopped to go help. She walked quickly, once she reached the room there was 5 injured men. She spotted one trying to get up on his own and rushed to help him. "Sir you really shouldn't stand up please lay down, your foot is broken"! The boy ignored her.

"No I can't sit here, they still need our help ahh-"! Sae forcefully pushed him back down on the bed. "I said lay down I may be small but I am stronger than you! now what's your name"? He was amazed the girl was so little yet she was strong enough to hold him down.

"I- uhhh just call me Suyoshi, Miss". Sae was examining his foot, definitely broken. "Alright Suyoshi i'm Sae, i'll be treating you until you're back on your feet and you better listen to me got it". In all honesty she terrified him. "Yeah yeah, you got it".

Few weeks later

"SAEEEE"! Suyoshi yelled from the room. "Ughhh Suyoshi I told you already you'll get your udon later, you already had 5 bowls"! She whined, this kid has some appetite.

"That's not why I called look"! He pointed to his foot and walked around happily jumping into the air to show he was no longer injured. "Oh that's great news, that's means you can start your total concentration constant training". She said with a straight face.

" Aww man not again.... WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE THAT AT LEAST LOOK A LITTLE HAPPY"! He yells feeling hurtful, he's never seen her smile or laugh or cry, nothing.

"..... I am overjoyed that you're better, I just always look like this". She looks at Suyoshi who seems irritated.

"I don't get it why? It doesn't hurt to show a little emotion once in a while".

"Look I just don't alright. why does it bother you"?

"I bet I can get you to laugh, that's my new mission and I won't fail". He says with confidence and a smile. Sae wondered if he actually could.

End of Flashback

Sae met eyes with Amane and sighed. "I'd like to speak with Kagaya please". She nodded and led her where Kagaya was. He was in the garden as usual, his sickness was getting bad. Part of his eye was slightly infected. Sae bows to him, then sits next to him and lays her head on his lap. "My child i've just heard, I am terribly sorry is there anything I can do". He says as he pats her head. Sae laid in silence, a few moments passed and she rose from his lap.

"I- I have made a decision..... I want to join the demon slayer corps". She did not dare look at Kagaya in the eye.

"My child why do you wish to become a demon slayer"? Sae looked at him with tears in her eyes. He then noticed she was feeling emotions. The last time that happened was the day she was saved.

"Kagaya please forgive me but I can't sit back and let people I care about get slaughtered....... I'm done being afraid I want to help". She was surprised to see that he smiled and agreed. He knew one day she would choose this path and he accepted the fact it did indeed happen so he sent his crow with a message to a retired hashira, now waiting for an answer.
