Nessa sat in a fully occupied area of the school library, Jessica by her side as they both scribbled in their notebooks, concentrated looks on both of their faces.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" a familiar voice shocked both of the girls as they looked at each other, and then up at Alex Standall, who was standing over Nessa with a cold look on his face, eyebrows furrowed in anger.

"Don't fucking start with me." Nessa snapped as she looked around, taking in all of the people that were watching this little scene unfold. She immediately noticed Scott sitting in the corner with Charlie and a couple of other people, his fists balled with anger on the table.

"You told Ani that you were with Zach after homecoming, but I'm the fucking liar, Nessa?" Alex continued, and Jessica leaned in to join the conversation.

"Alex, shut the hell up." she whispered as she grimaced slightly. "People are looking."

Alex rolled his eyes, leaning in further to his ex girlfriend as he raised his voice further. "Yeah, well I don't give a shit. Why the fuck are you lying?" Alex shouted in her face, and Nessa flinched under his words. She had never seen him like this, but then again, he was a completely different person to her now.

"Alex." Nessa said with her breath hitched. "Get the hell away from me right now. You're scaring me."

"Why?" Alex asked as he tried to calm his voice down. "Why are you afraid of me?"

"Get the hell away from her." a masculine voice said as he stepped beside Alex and Nessa, the latter looking up to see Scott Reed with a scowl on his face, his broad shoulders tensed as he glared at Alex.

"Oh, of course." Alex said as he looked over at Nessa, who had a solemn look on her face. "Is this your reason for lying, Nessa?" Alex asked as he gestured over to Scott, who now had his arms crossed in front of his body.

"Hope the sex is better." Alex spat, and Nessa expected him to walk away, but he didn't. He stayed, watching the way Nessa's face contorted into a look of disgust and betrayal.

"Alex, just stop!" Jessica cried as she stepped beside Scott, moving Alex back so that Nessa could have some space. "Stop all of this shit, you're embarrassing me, you're embarrassing Nessa, and you're making a damn fool out of yourself."

Alex grimaced as he looked at the three people in front of him, two of them he never imagined hurting the way he had in the last few months in his entire life.

"Yeah, well," Alex said as he started to turn on his heel. "I think Nessa already did that for me plenty."

He stormed out of the room, leaving Jessica to wrap an arm around Nessa and Scott to hold himself back from running after the boy and knocking him into a set of lockers.

"Are you okay, Ness?" Jessica said as she rubbed her back, trying to instill any little bit of comfort into her best friend beside her.

Nessa shook her head, leaning into Jessica's shoulder. "No. I'm pissed off."

"Yeah, well that makes two of us." Scott muttered as he unclenched his fists, which were ready to swing at any given moment. If he didn't care about Nessa as much as he did, he would have done it without a thought the moment Alex started harassing her.
