Chapter Thirty Two.

"Twisted Trust."

There are many advantages and disadvantages to being a general. One of the disadvantages could perfectly be the extra work, or the planning, or the constant problems with different outposts across the galaxy.

But the advantages make it worth it, not that y/n was ever interested in having a privelege above the others, that's selfish, and the Jedi code does sort of forbid that. However, the fact that he's able to see the count of prisoners, and names of prisoners on the prison of coruscant makes it easier to research on who has a closer connection or information on Hardeen. He doesn't recognize half of the faces he sees, but knows that most of them are there because they either swindled by Hardeen, or failed a mission with him. That, or they have a few death threats for Hardeen.

That being said, y/n couldn't get into the prison, as the job of general partakes mostly meetings and briefings, and while most of the prisoners wanted revenge against Hardeen, none could offer solid proof on where he went, besides. Most of them were either killed, or fled from the prison the last few days. 

However, as time passed, and briefings ended, Anakin and Ahsoka had left the temple to Nal Hutta, the only information he got was from Ahsoka, telling him that they were going after trails for Hardeen, Bane, and Eval. Y/n supposed that he couldn't leave now, they were already gone for when he got the message, he wanted to protest, to say that he should join in. But beggars can't be choosers. 

Eventually, as the day passed, the chancellor asked for his presence, since Anakin was the one Jedi who was protecting the chancellor, so the chancellor himself requested his presence. It surprised y/n, but he wasn't going to say no. Protecting the chancellor however, proved to be quite easy, despite all the attempts at him over the time. 

"I am very sorry for the loss of your master, young one." Was the first thing that y/n heard coming out from chancellor Palpatine's mouth, but y/n didn't want pity, he wanted information, but swallowed his words and nodded in response. The day went normal, following the chancellor around, at his beck and call, it got boring very soon.

However, by the late noon, something that y/n wasn't expecting happened, "You seem tense, y/n." It started, with the chancellor saying that, "Do i?" Y/n retorted, sitting on the other side of the chancellor's office, watching him turn off the hologram with some information in it, he didn't pay too much attention to all the votes and senate stuff. Politics wasn't y/n's thing.

"I understand that losing someone close to you can make you feel tense on the later days." Palpatine said, eyeing the younger male with curiosity, y/n was about to respond, but the older replied sooner, "Do you think of catching the assassin of your master?" He asked y/n, and y/n tilted his head towards him, suddenly, he was very interested in what the chancellor might say.

"I do, yes." Y/n answered, raising a eyebrow, trying to see where this was going. Palpatine smiled in return, and looked at the younger Jedi with interest, "If there's truly a plot against me, i believe Hardeen might be part of it." He told the younger man, who listened intently to the chancellor's words, "While Master Skywalker is away tracking the bounty hunters, i have been left with the custody of clones. So i would like to ask you, young man, are you willing to take over Master Skywalker's position as my bodyguard until the festival of naboo ends?" He asks, and y/n tilts his head, he was assigned by the chancellor, temporarely, but an full time? That would mean he's excused from general duties.

And that there was a chance he would get to catch Hardeen, so, he placed his hand on his chin, and gave the chancellor a small nod. "Of course, Chancellor, your security is at my hands." Y/n told the older man, who gave him a facsimile smile, "Thank you, young man." The older man replied.
