"Must you continue doing that?" Dr. Wu asks. Brooklynn states at him
"Doing what, Doc?" She asks before clanging on the metal pipes beside her, "This? This? This?"
"It's quite annoying. And it's "Doctor"." He continues.
"Well, maybe I'll stop doing this, Doctor..." Brooklynn hits the pipe another time, "...when you stop rocking turtlenecks and making dino monsters."
"Mm.." Hecate groans from her spot, leaned up against the pipes, next to Brooklynn, "Stop it, it's annoying."
"Hecate!" Brooklynn exclaims. "You're awake, are you okay!?"
Hecate groans again, "I'm as okay as I can be with dozens of holes in my back." She chuckles before groaning in pain, "who's idea was it to lay me on my wounds?"
Dr. Wu gasps quietly, "Apologies, Hecate. I hadn't thought of that when I did so."
"Why're you talking so formally?" She asks, "You weren't earlier. It was actually surprising."
"Well, you are a family member, these others are not." He answers.
Brooklynn's eyes widen at the new information, "Family member!? What!?"
"Oh yeah, sorry. Henr—Dr. Wu is my godfather." Hecate answers.
"I would've come to retrieve Hecate earlier if I had known she was alive."
"I get, don't worry." Hecate says before turning to Brooklynn, "Did you see Bambi?"
"Last I saw her was at camp with Yaz. We left her when we went to the lab." She answers.
"She's most likely at my camp then. She'll be fine." Hecate says. She ponders whether she should ask about Sammy but decided not to. She quite literally died for the girl.
"Who is this Bambi?" Wu asks
"Bambi is my pet Zupaysaurus. I was there when she hatched so I'm basically her mother. She my dino child." Hecate explains.
"Hatched? Have the assets begun to reproduce?" He asks.
"Yep. I was surprised too but that was like ten months ago so I've gotten used to." She says, "I saw one of them lay eggs before and I'm actually scarred."
"Extraordinary." The doctor mumbles.
"So why were you trying to to take the laptop?" Hecate asks Brooklynn.
"Dr. Wu is trying to continue his experiments and research and the group and I don't want him to." She explains with a frown.
"But..why? There's nothing wrong with it." Hecate says with her eyebrows furrowed.
Brooklynn states at her shocked, "Nothing wrong!? Wh—"
"No, what I meant is that there's an island full of dinosaurs and no humans besides us and the others." She says, "Dr. Wu can continue the research on the island. But only the island. There's no harm in doing that."
Brooklynn sighs, "I guess you're not completely wrong. Who knows if the islands owner or something would even agree."
Hecate sighs and pulls herself to stand with a groan, "Dr. Wu... Henry?" The doctor looks back and walks back over, "Who owns Isla Nublar now that Masrani is dead?
He seems a bit taken aback by the question, "Well, Masrani stated in his will that the rights for everything in his possession would be given to his closest kin."
"Who's his closest kin?" Brooklynn asks. She stands and the group begins walking.
"Hecate's mother is Masrani's sister but she and her husband have passed, condolences Hecate, and Masrani had no immediate family, so..." He pauses for a moment, "if I'm correct, his closest kin would be you." He looks down at the girl who's jaw is slacking as it hangs.
"What!?"
...
"You'll be back with your friends as soon as we reach the rendezvous point." Dr. Wu tells Brooklynn making her scoffs.
"You don't seriously expect me to trust a guy who hires mercenaries and kidnaps kids?" She snarks .
'I didn't hire them, and you're not "kidnapped", you're... an unexpected complication."
"Yeah, Brooklynn, don't be mean." Hecate says making her scoffs once more.
"I only came back for my research and to retrieve the Indom..." He stops for a moment, "The point is I'm a visionary pushing the boundaries of science. Hopefully, one day, you'll understand that."
" True visionaries make the world better, not worse. Hopefully, one day, you'll understand that" Brooklynn states back.
"Would you both stop with that!?" Hecate exclaims, "Henry, stop being so bland and inconsiderate. Brooklynn, just stop being a brat. You're both annoying and Ill separate you both like kindergarteners if I have to."
"Apologies Hecate." Dr. Wu mumbles. Hecate sighs and shakes her head.
...
They stand outside, watching a bioluminescent dinosaur eat plants, "See? My creations aren't "monsters". Her bioluminescence is stunning, even outside of the caves." Dr. Wu says, "Wait, why is she here?"
"You can thank your other creation for that. The Scorpius rex was a monster. Both of them were." Brooklynn mutters.
"Both? I only made one."
"There were three Scorpiuses. I named the all Porky because they reminded me of a porcupine. I killed two of them." Hecate says, "Speaking of which, Brooklynn, what happened to the last one?"
"We killed it with the help of blue and crimson." She says.
"You found Crimson!?" Hecate exclaims and Brooklynn nods. The chatter slows down as the group continues walking. About another hour goes by until they arrive at the helicopter.
...
"Henry, I have a question." Hecate says making him turn his head and look at her, "Why do the dinosaurs respond so well to my presence?"
Dr. Wu stares at her with widened eyes, "During my first successful experiment with the creation of the dinosaurs, I needed human DNA. Your mother volunteered you for it so we extracted five percent of your DNA and added it to the dinosaurs. I believed that you couldn't live fully without all of your DNA so I replaced it with something else."
Hecate stares at him, "What did you replace it with?" She murmurs.
"I took part of the dinosaurs DNA to replace what had been taken from yours." He says, " I believe that is large factor in what killed your mother." He says.
The teen shakes her head, "My mother had complications with my birth. She lost a lot of blood and died in the operation table. You didn't kill her, Henry." She sighs, "But holy shit, I'm part dino. I just became like twenty percent cooler." Henry chuckles at her reaction.
Hecate looks up and sees Kenji running up, "I've got the lap top, let Brooklynn go!" Another second passes before chaos erupts. A herd of dinosaurs run towards them. Hecate groans when she sees Ben and bumpy herding them. The boxer runs forward and grabs the laptop suddenly, tossing it to Dr. Wu as he climbs into the helicopter.
"Hecate! There's not enough room for all your group but there's enough for you! Are you coming with me!?" Henry yells over the wind from the propellers.
"No, just go! We have a way off! I'll see you soon, Henry!" She shouts back. He nods to her and holds the lap top up in thanks before the helicopter rises and flies away. Hecate looks back, now she just has to deal with a stampede of herbivores.
She feels a nudge beside her and sees Bambi's head in her side, "Bambi!" The boxer throws her arms around the dino in a hug. She climbs on top the dino, "Lets go, bambi. They started this stampede, they can deal with it."
