19 : Shipwreck

"What is happening?" Brooklynn exclaims as the boat jerks and stops moving.

"Shoot. Shoot, no!"

'I don't think it's a mechanical failure. We might be stuck in a kelp bed or something." She continues.

Kenji groans, "Dang it! I must have missed that when I turned the boat"

Ben walks up with the others behind him, "Uh, guys, what's happening?"

"Propeller's jammed. Someone's gotta go under and check it out." Kenji says

"Cap thinks we're stuck in kelp. And where there's a kelp forest, there are usually sharks."

"Sharks? I'll pass. Saw this movie as a kid that really messed me up for life." Yaz says.

"I'll do it." Darius says. He grabs a rope and grunts as he ties it around his waist.

"You sure you're okay to go alone?"

"I'll be fine. Just be ready to pull me up." He replies. Darius inhales before jumping over the edge. Seconds pass and no answer. A moment later he tugs on the rope. Sammy, Yasmina, and brooklynn pull Darius up.

"The propeller was stuck in kelp. Tell Kenji to try it now." He says once he catches his breath, "I'll stay in the water just in case."

Brooklynn runs up and tells Kenji. The engine rumbles and the boat moves forward. "We're all-clear!" A beep on the SONAR catches their attention. Then another, and another. "What is that?"

"I don't know" Kenji says, "but it's big. Maybe a school of fish?"

Brooklynn's eyes widen and she runs back down, "tell him to hurry, there's something coming!" They start to pull him in but the door snaps and Darius yelps.

"We gotta get home out of there! Is there a life preserver? Or another rope?" Sammy exclaims.

Darius screams and looks down, "Is... Is that the Mosasaurus??"

"How the heck did it get out here? We gotta get Darius out! Now!" Yaz screams

Kenji runs down "Brooklynn, you stay at the wheel, the rest of you, be ready to pull us up!" He ties another rope around him and jumps into the water before anyone can argue.

"Kenji! Kenji, over here!" Darius yells and Kenji swims over. 

"Hold still! I got you." Kenji says, "Someone get Hecate! The dinosaur listen to her, remember!"

Brooklynn shakes her head, "No! We need to deal with this without her! Just swim back!"

"I'll get her" Yaz says, ignoring her.

"Yasmina, no! You let her sleep!" Brooklynn yells, glancing over at Hecate's sleeping figure. Kenji grunts but helps Darius back to the boat. The mosasaurus rushes forward and jumps out of the air, chomping down on the side of the boat as the group jumps out of the way. The movement jarrs Hecate and she falls, hitting the ground.

"What the fuck!?" She exclaims before her eyes widen in horror at the scene before her, "What the hell is happening!?" The dinosaur pushes into the boat, making them fall before she gets an answer.

"Hecate, do something!" Sammy exclaims, holding onto a railing.

"What the hell am I supposed to do!?" She calls back. The Mosasaurus appears out of the water again, crashing down into the boat and splitting it. A piece of wood flies through the air and hits the boxer in the head, knocking her out.

"Is... is everyone okay?" Darius asks. Many of the group are still on their knees, coughing up water.
