Three weeks later Daemon shows Daena the new horses. The horses he shows her are three stallions and two mares.
"Come, have a look at the new horses", Daemon says.
"Are you looking for a new mount?" Daena asks.
"I am, since my favorite mount besides Caraxes, is still off the table for a little bit longer after the birth of my children, I'm looking for something to occupy me while you heal", Daemon says.
"That white stallion is beautiful", Daena says.
"His mate is that cream colored mare over there, she's yours if you want her", Daemon says. "He is Duty, she is Honor."
"I absolutely want her", Daena says.
"Then she is yours", Daemon says with a gentle smile.
"Thank you, my beloved", Daena says.
"Wanna try riding her?" Daemon asks.
"The maester said I had to wait two more days before getting back on a horse", Daena says.
"Then it's best you wait, did he say when you would be allowed to fly again?" Daemon asks.
"He didn't, I asked but he said that was up to me", Daena says.
"Then we should strap one twin each to us and fly with them tomorrow", Daemon says.
"Absolutely", Daena says.

The next morning, Daena and Daemon wake up early, get dressed and feed their twins side by side with prepared bottles with Daena's mother's milk. When they are done, they each strap a twin to their bodies and go out to the dragon pit and mount their dragons.

The twins coo against their young parents as their dragons take flight. Daemon and Daena smile at each other as they race each other. From a few feet away in the air, Caraxes, Daemon's blood red mount notices a bird that looks to have trouble flying, easy prey, and lets out a gust of fire, frying the bird in the air and catching it mid flight as it's about to drop through the air and towards the ground.

Daena's she dragon Winter notices another bird and follows her mate's example, letting out a gust of fire, frying the bird in the air and catching it as it's about to drop towards the ground.

The twins giggle as they fly through the air strapped tightly against their parents.
"Let's have a look later and see how the hatchlings are doing", Daemon says.
"Definitely, it will be interesting to see how soon our children will have their dragons", Daena says.
"Yeah, for sure", Daemon says, giving Caraxes a command of in which direction he should fly.

Daena does the same with Winter and the two dragons fly back to Dragonstone, landing in the dragon pit, strapping themselves loose from the saddles and dismounting. They walk with their now sleeping children strapped to them to their rooms, when they walk in, they move the children to their beds.

Daemon looks over at the incubator that now holds the two dragon eggs for the children, he hears a light crackling and looks over. In the open incubator, two little dragon's heads poking through the shells.
"Look Jaehaerys, they're hatching", Daemon says to the baby boy now on his arm.

Daena picks up Jaehaera and holds her on the hip, both parents looking at the hatching baby dragons. Two little hatchlings emerge from their eggs, two males, one pale silver-gray and the other pink with silver markings.
"They're beautiful", Daena says.
"They are indeed", Daemon says.

A couple months later, Jaehaerys and Jaehaera name their hatchlings, Jaehaerys names his hatchling, the pale silver-gray male Quicksilver, Jaehaera names her hatchling, the pink male with silver markings, Stormdancer.

When the children are two years old, they are both dragon trainers and their hatchlings are growing rapidly.
"When do you think they'll be large enough for us to ride them, mama?" Jaehaerys asks Daena.
"Maybe in a year or two, depending on how well they are growing", Daena says.
"Until you can fly on your own dragons, you can fly with mama and me on Winter and Caraxes", Daemon says with a smile at his son.

Two years later, the hatchlings are large enough for the twins to fly on them for the first time. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera take flight together with their parents and fly around Dragonstone.

When the twins dismount their dragons, they are wild with excitement.
"I remember how excited I was the first time I flew Caraxes, I was about six years old, but I was told in my early youth that the first flight I ever took was with my lady mother on her dragon that now belongs to my cousin", Daemon says.
"So you claimed your Caraxes when you were six?" Daena asks, astonished. "He must have been huge already by then."
"He was indeed, especially for a six year old boy", Daemon says. "I'm surprised my father and mother didn't stop me, but I guess they figured it was time for me to claim a dragon."
"Had they expected you to do it sooner?" Daena asks.
"I'm a Targaryen, my love, of course they had, I would probably have expected the same from our children if we weren't so firm in the tradition of putting dragon's eggs in the cradle of our newborns, when I was a boy the tradition was different, then only the heir got an egg in the cradle, so my brother got one but I didn't, I'm changing that tradition so all my children will get same chance to have a dragon, in my opinion all true Targaryen princes and princesses should a dragon's egg placed in the cradle, we are dragon lords by divine right", Daemon says.
