Chapter 18 - "well, it's Daemon, what do you expect"

The news of the escapades reaches the dowager queen. She isn't very surprised about the news that Daemon and his queen got caught having sex on the iron throne.
"Well, I'm not surprised about this at all, it's Daemon after all, what do you expect? He's always been wild", dowager queen Aemma says.
"Otto wasn't very surprised either", princess Rhaenyra says.
"Of course he wasn't, he knows what your uncle is like", dowager queen Aemma tells her daughter.
"I suppose you're right, lady mother" princess Rhaenyra's says.
"How soon will you be going back to Dragonstone?" Dowager queen Aemma asks.
"In two days time, then me, Laenor and our children will be going to take up our seat there", princess Rhaenyra says.
"You will be missed here, daughter", Aemma says.
"Perhaps if you ask uncle Daemon, you could join us at Dragonstone and take up residence with us there, lady mother", princess Rhaenyra says.
"I'm sure your uncle would surely allow it if I ask him, if for nothing else than the love he held for your late father", Aemma says. "And perhaps when my mourning period for your father is to an end, you could send your uncle a raven and ask him".
"Will you re-marry when your mourning period after father is at its end?" Rhaenyra asks.
"I might, I'm still young enough to bear more children", Aemma says.
"Will you be allowed to choose your next husband on your own or will uncle Daemon or someone else decide who you will marry?" Rhaenyra asks.
"The benefits of being a widow is that I can decide for myself who I wish to marry if I wish to marry again", Aemma says.
"Is there any specific available man you would wish to marry, lady mother?" Rhaenyra asks.
"I don't know, dearest, I haven't really thought about it since your father passed away", Aemma says. "Maybe some noble house is willing to wed one of their unwed adult sons to me"

Later that same day, Queen Daena sends for lady Aemma, as the dowager queen is now known.
"Have you thought about your future, lady Aemma?" Daena asks.
"I have, your grace", Aemma says.
"Tell me of the plans you have for your future", Daena says.
"I wish to get remarried when the time is proper to do so, with respect for my late husband, the late king Viserys", Aemma says.
"Have you thought about who you potentially wish to marry?" Daena asks the older woman with a gentle smile.
"I have, I wish to wed lord Aeron Strong, the 35 year old cousin to my daughter Rhaenyra's champion, Harwin", Aemma says.
"I'm sure that can be arranged, feel free to send him a raven to offer him the opportunity to marry such a formidable woman as yourself when your time of mourning for your late husband is at its end", Daena says kindly.
"Thank you, your grace", Aemma says.
"Don't mention it, I'm sure you would have done the same for me was I in your situation", Daena says.
"I definitely would, had it been you in my situation, being widowed after Daemon, I would have made sure to find you a suitable new husband when your mourning period had ended", Aemma says.

Three weeks later, while Daena is holding her woman's court with her ladies, she is feeling a bit nauseous, she excuses herself and summons the maester to her rooms.
"How can I help, my queen?" Grand Maester Mellos ask.
"I believe I'm carrying another child for my husband, his grace king Daemon", Daena says.
"May I examine you to determine if you really are with child?" Grand master Mellos asks.
"You may, grand maester", Daena says, getting into the right position so that she can be examined.
"You are indeed with child, my queen", grand master Mellos says. "I believe that you are about two moons pregnant"
"Can you tell the sex of mine and his grace's next child?" Daena asks.
"I believe that it's another boy, your grace", grand maester Mellos says.
"That is wonderful news, how soon do you suggest that I tell his grace about the new baby?" Daena asks.
"I suggest that you wait for another two moons to tell his grace the king about the new baby, by then we will know for sure that you are with child and that the child is growing as it should", grand maester Mellos says.
"And perhaps wait another few weeks after I've told Daemon to announce it to the realm that a new prince is on the way", Daena says.
"A very wise idea, my queen", grand maester Mellos says. "By the way, I noticed a couple small self healed cuts on your body, your grace".
"Oh, they must be from when me and his grace made love on the Iron Throne, yes the rumors of that is true, me and his grace my husband did make love while he was sitting on the throne", Daena admits.
"You and his grace made love on the throne?" Grand maester Mellos asks surprised.
"Yes, me and my husband, king Daemon made love on the Iron Throne", Daena says simply.

A couple months later, the news reach Daemon, Daena and their family that Daemon's niece Rhaenyra has given birth to another son, Jacaerys Velaryon.
"My niece has given birth, to another son, they're naming him Jacaerys Velaryon", Daemon says, seeing the concerned look in his queen's eyes. "Don't worry, my love, my niece's children are no threat to our children's right to the throne".
"I'm not necessarily concerned that your niece's children are a threat to our own children's right to the throne", Daena says. "You're young, you're healthy and you're the king, we're both young and healthy and can have more children".
"And our eldest son and daughter are also both healthy and will likely have many strong healthy children when the time comes", Daemon says.
"Jaehaerys and Jaehaera have already tried for a child, I noticed when I was sitting with our daughter while I was holding my women's court that our daughter is already likely with child", Daena says.

While her parents sitting discussing her possible pregnancy, princess Jaehaera is being examined by grand maester Mellos.
"Princess, you are with child, you and your brother husband are going to have a baby, in about seven months", grand maester Mellos says.
"Can you tell the sex of the child?" Jaehaera asks.
"It's a boy, your grace", grand maester Mellos says.
"When do you suggest I tell my brother husband about the baby?" Jaehaera asks.
"I suggest that you tell him as soon as possible", grand maester Mellos says. "If you wish, I can tell the king and queen".
"I would very much like for you to tell the king and queen, my parents, about the baby", Jaehaera says. "And I'll tell prince Jaehaerys myself"
