That evening, when the castle is dark, princess Rhaenyra, dressed in a serving girl's rough-spun, sneaks out of her rooms, seeing her sworn shield and sword, 25 year old Ser Criston Cole, standing tall dark and handsome outside the door, dressed in his king's guard garb.
"Princess?" Ser Criston says, surprised at seeing her.
"Come here", Rhaenyra says flirtatiously.

Ser Criston knows better than to go for the princess's tricks, but it's hard not to, he knows he would be in trouble if someone caught them together. Rhaenyra looks around and slowly takes her clothes off for him.

Ser Criston bites his lip when he sees her curves, her young body gives him the feeling that his pants are getting a bit too tight. Rhaenyra notices his predicament and smirks, kissing him, tugging at his pants.

They eagerly undress each other and quickly end up in the princess's big bed.
"This is wrong, we shouldn't be doing this", Ser Criston says.
"How about now?" Rhaenyra asks, taking his stiff manhood in her hand and tugs on it.

Ser Criston moans and can't contain himself anymore, he gets on top of her, moving inside her, making her moan as he moves inside her. He spills his seed inside her and pulls out of her, holding her to him.

Later as he's about to leave, he pulls out a vial from a pocket in his clothes without saying a word, he puts it on a table, Rhaenyra recognizes it, moon tea, she asked him to get it for her, to be safe if she's gonna continue bedding men before her marriage, he did, under the guise of it being for one of the serving women that he allegedly had an affair with.

With it, there's a small note.
"To keep you safe/C"
"To keep us safe", Rhaenyra says to herself as she downs the moon tea.

Rhaenyra closes her eyes in a silent prayer that the moon tea works as it should. A few days later, her prayer is answered when her moon blood arrives. She can't be with child if she is to be wed, especially not if she hasn't already laid with Laenor, her betrothed.

She decides to seek Laenor out, finds him with Criston Cole in the training yard and alerts him of her presence. Laenor turn around and looks at her, smiles and walks over to her.

Rhaenyra kisses him passionately, he lifts her up in his arms and carry her back to her chambers.
"I know your secret", Rhaenyra tells him when they are behind closed doors. "That you'd rather have Criston Cole in your bed, rather than me."
"How do you know that?" Laenor asks.
"Your...sister told me, it's alright, I know how we can both get what we want as well as making our families and the realm happy", Rhaenyra says lightly.
"How?" Laenor asks.
"We'll marry like was arranged, breed heirs for the Seven Kingdoms, but we are otherwise free to pursue love elsewhere, me with Ser Criston and you with whatever young squire you want as long they're discreet, I'll remember to drink moon tea after each time I've laid with him so I won't get his bastard in my belly, and we lay together enough times to produce a son or two", Rhaenyra says. "That way everyone gets what they want, you get your young squires or whoever is discreet enough not to spread the story out all over the seven kingdoms, and I get Ser Criston or whatever knight I want who is discreet enough not to spread the story out all over the seven kingdoms."
"Good, do you have someone who can supply you with moon tea without anyone knowing?" Laenor asks.
"I do, one of my handmaidens is loyal to me, and she lays with Ser Criston as well", Rhaenyra says.

A year later, a couple months after their wedding, Rhaenyra gives birth to Laenor's twins, a girl they decide to name Aelora Velaryon and a boy they name Aelor Velaryon.

To their pure luck, the twins look exactly like Laenor.
