When prince Aemond Targaryen, son of prince Daemon, the boy nicknamed "the sapphire prince" for his striking deep blue eyes, the only thing not very Targaryen about the boy, is six years old, he, just like his older siblings, twelve year old twins Jaehaerys and Jaehaera, claims his dragon, the young male dragon Stormcloud.

Aemond gets to go flying with his older siblings after strict warnings from Daemon for the older children to stay close to the castle and the dragon pit when they take their younger brother on his first flight on his young dragon.
"You three, and I, are all heirs to the Iron throne that your uncle sits on", Daemon says. "Should my brother, the king, die without a male heir of his own body to succeed him, the iron throne passes to me and your mother and I become king and queen of the seven kingdoms."
"But uncle Viserys has a daughter to succeed him on the throne though", Jaehaerys reminds his father. "And if Jaehaera can be queen, so can our cousin Rhaenyra."
"Jaehaera would rule by your side, it was decided when you were born that you would be wedded to each other when Jaehaera has flowered, your sister would be queen by marriage, your cousin would be queen, yes, but she would have to wed to get the iron throne, and even then, her husband would be the one to rule, because that's the law of the seven kingdoms", Daemon reminds his eldest son.
"If I'm to be betrothed to our sister, who will Aemond be betrothed to?" Jaehaerys asks.
"We'll figure it out, don't worry, my boy, there's plenty of young girls that we could betroth your brother to, or your mother and I can try for another baby, are you concerned that your mother and I won't find someone to betrothed your brother to, Jaehaerys?" Daemon asks lightly.
"Not at all, you always say that because you're so close to the iron throne, your children would be very coveted possible partners for the sons and daughters of lords and ladies of the seven kingdoms", Jaehaerys says.
"That's right, we had so many offers for you and your sister when you were born that we had hurry to betroth you to each other", Daemon says lightly.
"When did you betroth us to each other?" Jaehaerys asks.
"When you were about three or four days old, and a few days later, your dragons hatched", Daemon says.

A few hours later, Jaehaera seeks out her lady mother, Jaehaera finds Daena in the great hall of the castle and walks up to her.
"Mother, I would like a word with you", Jaehaera says.
"What is it, my girl?" Daena asks.
"I flowered this day", Jaehaera says in the way of a true lady, eyes downcast.
"I know, my sweet girl, your handmaiden Elaena Velaryon, your father's second cousin, came to me and told me that there was blood on your sheets this morning", Daena says.
"Where is father? And Jaehaerys?" Jaehaera asks.
"Here", Daemon says as he walks in with his son beside him.
"Father, I flowered this day", Jaehaera says calmly.
"Does that mean we can be wed?" Jaehaerys asks.
"Yes, that means you can be wed", Daemon says.
"How soon can we be wed?" Jaehaera asks.
"You seem eager to be wed, more so than your mother was", Daemon says lightly.
"Why wasn't mother eager to be wed?" Jaehaera asks.
"Ask her", Daemon says lightly.
"My father had arranged it with your uncle the king, so not even with your father or grandfather", Daena says. "When your father came to Winterfell to take me to bride, I was hiding in the Gods Wood at Winterfell, he understood I was nervous and talked for a bit before we got back to Winterfell and were wed, in the light of the seven."
"And when we learned we were having you and your brother, we were wed again, in fire and blood like in Valyria of old, here at Dragonstone, by the Dragonpit, the way you and Jaehaerys will be wed, we were wed with Caraxes, Winter and the unclaimed dragons as our witnesses, as well as the royal couple", Daemon says. "You and Jaehaerys will have a larger wedding when you are wed, you are a prince and princess of the realm after all."
"I see, how were you wed the first time?" Jaehaera asks.
"In the light of the seven, in the sept at Winterfell where I was born, with my parents and their household as our witnesses", Daena says. "When I had been dragged from the God's Wood."
"Dragged?" Jaehaera asks.
"Yes, I didn't want to marry your father at first, I was scared of him, and I was even more scared of Caraxes, I had been told that if I didn't agree to marry your father, perhaps he would have Caraxes eat me", Daena says.
"But luckily you changed your mind and warmed up to both me and my dragon", Daemon says with a smile.
