On the floor, on her prayer mat, Hanan sat down resting her head against the wall, she stared into space with one line hovering over her mind.
"Maybe not in this life, maybe in another, or the next."
"Really?" She mutters while it plays in her head on a loop.
"Why do you let these words continue to affect you?" She sighed and shook her head.
"Exactly, why do I let it bother me so much, it's time to move on, for real." She utters while squeezing her eyes closed for a couple of minutes, she feels a gentle tap on her forehead which makes her open her eyes surprised to see Nanny Ann sitting beside her.
"When did you walk in?"
"Just now." She replied.
"I'm glad your body temperature feels normal now, last night your high temperature got me so scared, now you just need to take this medicine and eat, and then your fever will vanish." She completed her sentence while passing her a tablet of Ibuprofen, then she observed her seated position and frowned a little bit.
"I didn't expect to meet you in this same spot, please get up and freshen up, look... She points at the clock.
"It's noon and you are yet to eat the breakfast I served since 8 am, at least eat for the sake of your medicine." She says while picking a piece of bean cake to Hanan's mouth but she dodges her face.
"Nanny Ann, I don't have the appetite to chew anything."
"Sorry, but you just have to try and take even if it's the custard."
"Okay." She mumbled and lazily scooped a spoonful of custard to her mouth but as soon as Nanny Ann spoke up, she quickly dropped her spoon and glanced at her.
"What did you say?" She mumbled.
"I said last night Faruk and I spoke and he told me he needed your passport ready as he is planning to relocate you both back to America a week after the wedding."
"He told you that?" She mumbled in disbelief.
"Yes, weren't you aware? You sound surprised."
"No, I wasn't, he didn't tell me... She sighed.
"He also said when he comes later to discuss your wedding preparations he's going to share the news with Abdul as well...
"What news?" Abdul just barged in with an irritated look.
"Faruk is relocating them to America after their wedding." Nanny Ann explained.
"Heh! Really?" Abdul arched his eyebrow as he glanced at Hanan.
"Yes." Nanny Ann sighed and cupped Hanan's cheeks.
"I'm already missing you." She pouts.
"I'm not going anywhere, don't worry... Hanan smiled and soon got interrupted by Abdul's voice.
"Nanny Ann, please can you excuse us?" He says.
"Yes I was already leaving, I even need to start preparing lunch before Faruk's arrival, he said he was coming with a relative and his mother, so Hanan once you're done, please take your bath and get dressed, they may come anytime from now." She says before heading out.
"Did cry you again?" Abdul asked while he observed her eyes.
"No, I didn't."
"Lies! Your eyes are red and swollen."
"It's the fever, or maybe I've got an Apollo or an eye infection." She replied irritatedly.
"Huh?" He scoffed.
