Fetching her last spoon of porridge yam into her mouth, Hanan stood up from the dining chair to leave. "Good night Nanny Ann, thanks for the delicious dinner I will be going to bed early."
"Okay, but it's just 9 pm now."
"Yes, I feel exhausted."
"Are you sure?" Abdul smiled. "I think she is going to bed early for a different reason." He says making her chuckle.
"What reason do you think I have then?"
"I saw you browsing the time zone between Nigeria and France and that only means you intend to stay awake talking to your lover, I'm I wrong?" He says and Nanny Ann laughs.
"Really?" Nanny Ann said to Hanan whose cheeks were looking flushed and red, she bit in a smile and cleared her throat to speak.
"Firstly Abdul, learn to respect one's privacy, and secondly, that's not true, I'm simply going to bed after an exhausting day, good night." She said and hurried off, while she left she could hear Nanny Ann and Abdul laughing at her and she couldn't help but smile too.
Abdul was right, she intended to stay awake talking to him, she doesn't mind sacrificing her entire night staying awake to hear his voice, he left not too long but she was already missing him so much.
She got to her room and the first thing she did was to check the time and then grab her phone.
"Its still 9 pm, he is either on the plane or waiting for his plane." She muttered.
Just then, she received a WhatsApp message.
You're mine, I won't let anyone take you away, I'll never let you go no matter what.
She read the message out and in that instant her phone rang, it was Faruk banging her phone with calls. She felt too scared and hesitant to pick.
I know you're seeing my calls but you are refusing to pick? You can't leave me, I won't permit it...
He was still typing when she blocked him, she felt her heart beat at an unusual pace, she felt frightened by his messages.
"What does he want? I told him we're done, why is he being so persistent." She mumbled about to switch off her phone when a sms message popped on her phone screen.
I swear to God, I would rather kill everyone than let anyone come between us, you can't do this to me, you can't leave me, Hanan, please, I'm outside let's talk.
And she ran to her window to see his car parked outside their gate.
She knew once Abdul found him around, a war could start, so she secretly sneaked out to meet him.
Once he saw her he ran to her, holding her close.
"Hanan, why weren't you picking up my calls? I kept calling to tell you that we can't split up, we just can't, I love you." He said filling her nostrils with a foul smell of liquor coming from his breath.
She pushed him away taking a deep breath in.
"Faruk, please stop this, you need to stop it! I told you earlier that it's over between us, this is suffocating!"
"Suffocating? No Hanan don't say so, I love you more than words can tell, I love you so much that it hurts to see you push me away, don't you see how much I feel for you? Please don't do this to me, I beg you Hanan."
"Stop it! You don't love me you're only obsessed! Please leave, leave or else I will call the cops on you!"
"Oh would you?" He chuckled jerking her arm close.
