"I'll go in with you...
"No, stay back, wait for me here."
"But... What if...
"Relax Najib." She smiled patting his face softly. "I'm not going on a battle, I'm just simply gonna tell them the wedding is off."
"Okay, but remember, 10 minutes is all you've got, once your time elapses, I will come to get you."
"Sure, see you in 10 minutes." She smiled and waved him bye as she get off the car, she stared at the gate of the house for a couple of minutes before heading in.
She walked in while glancing at every corner of the house, she felt chills unlike the first time she visited with Faruk, then, she was amazed and excited by the beautiful interior structures but now, they made her feel nervous, she got goosebumps spreading all over her arms while thinking of how she was going to face them with the news she has brought, but for the sake of everyone's sanity, she decided to boost her confidence and head in.
She got to the doorstep, taking her time to breathe in and out before pressing the doorbell, and once she did that she could feel her palms turning sweaty.
"Look who is here, Our dearest bride, our daughter-in-law is here, welcome in." Aunty Hauwa opened the door with so much excitement as she urged her to enter the house but Hanan remained hesitant to enter till Faruk's mother joined them at the door.
"Hanan, it's you, I was about to send Hauwa and Faruk to your place to deliver your wedding gifts...
"Yes ma, I came to share something important."
"Okay, come in then."
"No ma, I will just say it here, I don't need to go in." Hanan sighed while mustering her courage to talk further, Aunty Hauwa pulled her in.
"How can you stand by the door, come in, we have guests who have already arrived for your wedding, they would like to meet you." She says as she walks them in, she begins introducing Hanan to every guest in the house which makes her feel anxious.
"She is so pretty, Faruk is so lucky to have gotten a pretty bride." One of the guests praised.
"Yes, I agree and I must say that I have the prettiest daughter-in-law." Faruk mother laughs and Hanan could only smile at their words with more anxiety eating her up.
"So, what is the important thing you came to say?" Aunty Hauwa asks.
"Hmm...I came to tell you... She fumbled into each word while avoiding their gazes, she fixed them on her trembling hands while wishing she could just say it and teleport away from their curious gazes.
"Why does it feel so difficult to say?" She whispered.
"Hanan? Speak up, what is it?" Faruk's mother asks as she notices her trembling hands, she pats them while giving her a warm smile, and that boosts Hanan's confidence to speak up.
"I came to call off the wedding, ma." She says while glancing at her, she watched Faruk's mother's expression grow dark with shock, and then she glanced at Aunty Hauwa and all she could see was anger and rage.
"I'm sorry but I can't marry your son...
"Why?! I mean why are you just telling us now? The wedding is tomorrow, Is this some joke...
"No, Aunty Hauwa, I'm serious, this is his proposal ring, I came to return it...
"Heh?!" Aunty Hauwa slowly claps as she lets out a loud laugh full of sarcasm before unleashing her fury.
"My brother-in-law was right about you all along, Baba Faruk had warned us but we didn't listen now see how much embarrassment she caused to our family, we have people all over the country coming for this wedding, and most of them have already arrived and now you dare to call off the wedding? Mama Faruk, why are you quiet, you're not saying anything?!"
