[ WARNING! MENTIONS OF RAPE, ABUSE, AND DEATH ]

Growing up in a small town, peaceful mornings and the smell of fresh cut grass almost every morning. The farm houses had a big space between the other houses, the animals having their own barns to sleep in.

Kim Minjeong's family was well respected around the town, and she had a close-knitted group of friends. Although she lived in a peaceful community, her life wasn't all that easy behind closed doors.

Her father, a man admired by the community, had a dark side that no one else saw. He struggled with alcoholism, and his drinking often led to violent outbursts. Minjeong and her mother bore the brunt of his anger. Nights were filled with fear, as Minjeong would lie awake, listening for the telltale sounds of his return from the bar that he would drive out of town to, bracing herself for what might come next.

The emotional and physical abuse left deep scars on Minjeong. He raped the 15 year old when her mom was at work. Minjeong absolutely despised the man, his dirty smiles, and his anger whenever he didn't get what he wanted. She despised it all. Everytime someone touched her or even raised their hand around her, she would automatically get scared and flinch as if it was a normal reaction. Minjeong was young and the older man so claimed to be her father ruined everything for her.

Her mom was her only one who gave her comfort at home. She would rock her daughter to sleep after the abuse her forced to marry husband did the horrible things to her. There had been no escape. The man would not file a divorce, it was bad for his image. People would talk about him around the town when he was gone, he didn't want the people of the town to know how horrible he was.

Outside in the world he has a perfect family. Just one daughter and a wife in the peaceful side of the world.

Though, every man has cruel part of them. No matter how many people admire a man, none knows how a man is at home.

Throughout the long term suffering the young girl faced, Minjeong learned to cover up  her bruises even in hot weather, still keeping her smile in school. She excelled academically, driven by a desperate need to escape her home life. But the trauma was always there, lurking beneath the surface.

On a particularly distressing night, Minjeong was jolted awake by a loud crash that sounded like shattering glass, her eyes snapping open in alarm. The familiar voices of her parents rose up from the floor below, their yells filling the air as her father returned home.

At midnight, the half-asleep 15-year-old girl got out of bed and opened her bedroom door to the sound of loud voices, predominantly her father's, growing louder. Minjeong cautiously descended one step, attempting to decipher the conversation. Still trying to shake off her sleep, she took a few more steps down the stairs, where she saw her parents in a heated argument. The reason for their altercation was her father's return home late at night, intoxicated and enraged.

"You have no right to tell me when and where I have to be by midnight, woman. Know your fucking place and go back to sleep!" Minjeong felt disheartened once again by her father's words, as he shouted at her mother, claiming she had no right to dictate his schedule, and telling her to know her place and return to bed, his language always leaving her with a sense of disgust regardless of the circumstances.

Minjeong listened more, slowly stepping down the last step, her eyes staring at the two people who raised her. Her mother hadn't listened to him, frustrated by the fact that she married such a disgusting man. Anyone could see the pain and irritation in her eyes, regret and hatred.

"Why do you have to do this? Go out every night? I thought you said you would care for this family! You said you would love your wife and your daughter. You've only been out drinking, hitting on useless woman who only want you for your no good cock! You are a horrible man, I pity your mom for raising such an awful human being."
