Today was the day Karina would stop being a scaredy-cat and try to talk to Winter. They haven't talked in a week, the only one who really cared was going insane.

That was the one and only, Karina Yu, or at least she thought she was the only one who cared. Winter never once made eye contact with her at all after the incident. That made Karina assume that Winter didn't care for her anymore, though she couldn't confirm that for sure so she just let her thoughts flood.

Karina was scared even though Giselle gave the best advice to her, she was still afraid.

Everytime she saw Winter she always looked more frustrated than she used to. Her eyebrows were mostly always furrowed, like she got mad at even breathing in the air. That's why it was so hard to approach her, Karina certainly did not have the confidence she had when she rejected others.

Karina peeked out the door, seeing Winter walking in the hallway, coming to the same classroom she has with her. Karina smiled, clearing her throat to make sure she wouldn't sound as weird.

This was her chance, she finally had the courage to say something to Winter.

She fixed her hair quickly, holding onto her bag over her shoulder for comfort.

She peeked again, noting to herself that Winter was getting closer. God, Winter looked so pretty when she just walks down a hallway, Karina's stare lingering for a bit too longer than it should have.

Karina snapped out of it, this wasn't a time to admire Winter from a distance. Her head pulled back into the classroom.

Karina was one of the first people to enter class, the classroom halfway empty. Except for Giselle who was in the back and a couple other students who were preparing their things for class. Giselle knew about Karina trying to talk to Winter after what it felt like weeks, rooting for her in a distance.

Karina looked back at Giselle in the classroom, smiling at her nervously. She then turned back to the door—

"Oh-"

Karina gasped lightly, staring into those eyes she hasn't seen in a while. She felt like her heart could melt, her eyes softening. It seems like all her problems went away when she looked into Winter's eyes. This was a familiar feeling, she could forget anything by just making eye contact with the younger girl.

Karina stared too long, her mouth hanging open slightly, "uh.."

Winter closed her eyes, hitting Karina's shoulder firmly with hers as she brushed pass her.

What just..

"Wait, Jeo-"

That made Winter stop in her tracks from walking to her seat, Karina swallowing nervously from her sudden stop.

"Winter.." Karina spoke nearly above a whisper.

The younger one didn't move, like she was waiting for Karina continue.

"Good morning.." Karina choked out, still lost in the memory of Winter's eyes. No.. you can't fumble this.. Karina thought, quickly snapping out of it

Before Winter could walk to her seat, Karina gently grabbed her wrist, pulling Winter softly so she could face her. "After class can we talk? Please?" Karina asked gently, the desperation showing in her eyes. Though, Winter refused to believe the desperation. She couldn't trust Karina anymore, not after what she done to her.

They both stared at each other for a while, Winter's eyes were unexplainable but they were shaking. Shaking like tears were about to appear.

"Winter-"

The younger one pulled her hand away roughly, glaring up at Karina once more before turning and walking to her seat.

Karina stood frozen for a while in the middle of the classroom, looking at her hand that held onto Winter's wrist. Karina's eyes were still on Winter's teary eyes in her memory, her instinct wasn't to make Winter cry. She sighed putting her hands in her pockets from embarrassment.

She should've known it wouldn't be this easy to get Winter to speak with her again. She had no reason to be shocked.

Karina took a glance at Winter who didn't bother to look at her. The girl sitting as far away from Karina's seat. She let out a deeper sigh before walking up to her seat in the back, her head low.

Once she plopped down in her seat, a soft nudge was made on her arm.

She made eye contact with Giselle, knowing that look without even saying anything.

She shook her head, silently announcing that she failed to talk to Winter.

A few minutes later- Class start;
"Everyone eyes on me!" Mr. Jeon spoke loudly enough for the class to quiet down and give their attention towards the professor.

He held stacks of paper, pushing up his glasses as his eyes scanned the classroom. "Good morning, class" he greeted with a small smile. "For your final project of this semester, I have decided to assign you all partners. You will be working together for the next month on feelings of the human race. Each pair will work on different feelings."

Multiple students exchanged some weird glances, some visibly relieved at the prospect of having a partner, while others wore blank expressions.

"As I call your names, please come to the front and receive your partner assignment." Mr. Jeon announced, holding up the papers in his hands.

One by one, names were called, and students eagerly made their way to the front of the class. Winter and Karina watched as their classmates formed pairs, their hearts sinking with each passing moment. Finally, it had been Winter's turn.

"Winter Kim." Mr. Jeon called out, looking at his paper. Winter reluctantly approached the front of the room, looking forward to her partner who could help her with the project.

The professor then grabbed a slip of paper on his desk, handing it to her. "Your partner for this project is...Karina Yu."

Winter's eyes widened at his words, looking at her paper before glancing at Karina in her seat. Her eyes were wide too.

"Mr. Jeon, there has to be a must be a mistake," that made the professor look up at her from his paper.

"Our surnames are nowhere near each other, how'd we even get paired?" Winter said.

Mr. Jeon sighed, "I did not go by surnames. I spun a wheel and it paired up random people. The wheel chose you and Karina."

Winter and Karina's jaws dropped at the same time. Though, Winter was the only furious one, Karina clearly shocked at her luck.

"For the both of you, you have to work on the emotions of what human feels when they are loving one another. You have to express how a human may feel throughout the process of loving another human being. I want a detailed project that will make others understand the difference in love, okay?"

Winter stood in front of Mr. Jeon with her mouth hung open. She could hardly believe that she'd have to work with Karina after trying her best to avoid her. She was against this fully, knowing Karina was probably jumping of joy in her mind.

She clenched her jaw, glancing at Karina in her seat, a flustered smile formed on her face. Gosh, Winter wanted to smack it off of her. How dare she smile at her after what she did?

Winter sighed heavily, silently going back to her seat. As the professor moved on to announce the next pair, she glared behind her, Karina smiling more than before.

This was going to be a long month.
