"Ahhhh hi Lenny!!!", Alessi screeched when our bodies collided. We were stood in the middle of the packed Berlin airport. Since she is from England but agreed to opening for me in a few days, she had to fly here.
"It's so nice to see you again girl! Feels like it's been ages", I greeted her.

Alessi's music was what originally came to my attention. You could call her the future queen of pop. We started talking from there and became friends over the internet. The first and only time we met in real life was at the Inhaler show in London, where I opened for them. I had her in mind as a support act for my upcoming tour as well but that was yet to be decided.

Alessi and I spent the few days we had together hanging out in Berlin and preparing for our shared gig. I chose my support acts wisely, not wanting to have someone whose music I'm not familiar with, kick off for me.

"What songs off of the album are you playing?", the redhead asked me curiously.
"I don't know yet, we've been rehearsing all of them. Mind helping me?"
"Of course!", Alessi smiled happily.

The Lido was sold out. 600 people would be showing up to my surprise show. I even received a few DMs saying they weren't from Germany but still took the time to travel all the way here.

The queue was long when we arrived at the venue. It was 15.00, normally people would now start queuing. Alessi and I made our way to the backdoors without getting noticed and quickly headed in. Our teams were already inside, building everything necessary.

"The one and only Alessi Rose and Lennon have arrived!", Alanis approached us.
She had complied to film and photograph the show, making the organisation of it easier.
I had introduced Alessi to my friends, additionally to me talking about her before. Except for Joost and the other males in my friendgroup. He would come back from Belgium in an hour or so. I missed him, I can't lie. These past days felt like forever without him.

We both gave Alanis a greeting hug and entered the dressing room. My band was sprawled out on the couches. They waved at us and continued doing their things.

I was ending my soundcheck with a cover of "Lover, You Should've Come Over" by Jeff Buckley. The length of the song made it perfect for soundchecking.
I sang the last words and opened my eyes after I had closed them to focus on notes.
My boyfriend stood in the middle of the room, arms crossed over his chest with a proud smile.
Next to him were my friends, the people I adored with my whole heart. They clapped and cheered as I ended the song and my soundcheck.

"Thank you, thank you", I laughed into the mic.
My guitar sat on it's stand whilst I climbed down the stage to the barricades. Joost immediately found his way to the other side. I settled on the step of the barricade, leaning onto it for support.
My hands cupped my boyfriend cheeks.
"Hi baby", I kissed him.
"I missed you, liefje", he admitted, a soft shade of pink painting his face.
"Me too", I sighed in his presence.
That comforting feeling overtook my body.

"Thank you, Berlin! It was so nice meeting you,
I hope I'll see you again soon. Are you excited for Lennon or what?", Alessi shouted into the mic when she ended her set. The bunch erupted in applause and screams.
I pulled her into an embrace: "That was lovely!"
"Thank you, Lenny. I can't wait to see you up there in a bit!"

Alessi headed back to her dressing room, leaving me with my band. We started preparing mentally and physically. Myles slammed his drumsticks on the edge of a table in a steady beat. Stevie danced to our pre-show playlist with her bass, trying to get rid of the nerves. Vic had his guitar strapped around his body, warming up his fingers. And I joined Stevie's dancing.

"Snap Out Of It" by Arctic Monkeys started playing. It sent a round of gasps through the crowd as they all sang it loudly.
I smiled at my fans' actions. I was blessed to have a very loving and welcoming fanbase. They respected each other and built a positive community for anyone to join.

The song ended to signal I had about 2 minutes left. Alessi had joined us again, wishing us luck.
My band took up the stage when the intro to "Car Park" started playing. We lengthened it to have about a minute of an intro. The audience filling the venue became increasingly excited.
A pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind, the person they belonged to whispering sweet nothings in my ear. It has become my very own pre-show ritual.
"You're a star, Len. They're here for you."
I spun around to face my partner. My cue to go came from Ellie. Joost leaned down to kiss me which I happily returned.

Alanis followed right behind me on stage. I grabbed my guitar, soaking up the applause I received from the people in front of me.
The anxiety washed off and adrenaline rushed through my system, my voice ringing through the venue.

Everything went flawlessly well. Playing new songs felt refreshing and having a few hundred people singing them back to you after barely a month was an indescribable experience.
I let my gaze wander through the room. The amount of ecstatic faces looking at me, made me beam in euphoria. Until my eyes got stuck on a face. I had to do a double take to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Thankfully, I composed myself swiftly and finished my last song of the night without any distractions.

"Danke, Berlin. I love you so much, see you soon!", I grew giddy at the teaser.
Before I left the stage, I took a glance at the oh so familiar person once more. My heartbeat quickened, making me breathe faster as well. The previous joy was replaced by panic. I wouldn't let it show and instead flashed my fans one last smile and left.

The terror of the situation made me storm past everyone backstage and into the bathroom.
I was hyperventilating and refused to let someone see me like this, I always hid it.

"Len? Are you in there?", Joost's voice sounded through the door worriedly.
"Open the door please", Ellie joined him, knocking on the door.
I couldn't calm down, it felt impossible.
Breathing heavily I stumbled to the door.
I didn't open it but spoke loud enough for my two closest people to hear:

"He's here."
