Emma had suggested a girls day out. It left Coen, Joost and Basti to themselves. I loved the quality time with them because we didn't have much time together otherwise. Joost and I were only there for a limited time.

"I've been thinking a lot about moving here one day", I spitballed casually while we strolled through Leeuwarden. My declaration made Emma's smile brighten and Sanne glanced at me, amazed by the idea.
"Really?", she shrieked, leaping up. I bowed my head in honesty.

It's not a new picture in my mind, I had been considering it for a while now. Not because I didn't like Berlin but of that homespun feeling.
I studied the buildings we passed, their unique architecture had a certain charm to it. The river flowing through the town filled the Dutch city stereotype, with the small bridges making way for pedestrians. The locals were always sweet and welcoming to visitors. Having Joost's family here was a benefit of the beauty of Friesland.

I flung my arm loosely around the shorter girl's shoulders: "Probably not anytime soon but when I can settle down maybe. I love it here, especially with all of you. And we could hang out all the time, Emma." She loved that proposal. Sanne laughed at her daughter's reception.
"Well Ems, you might have to convince your uncle to come back to fulfill that dream", she told her. "That's one way Jodocus can make up for his unacceptable attitude!"

Emma was continually bitter about his past decisions. I had told her multiple times, I was fine. She refused to let it go though. The poor girl got traumatised by how men can treat women. I was a little glad, no lies, you could never be warned early enough.

I wasn't exaggerating when I said this was one of the best days of my life. We went shopping, buying matching shirts and shoving ugly pieces into each other's faces while sarcastically screaming 'this is so cute' and 'you should totally get this'. We also went to this cozy cafe close to the canal.

People watching was an underrated hobby in my opinion. I loved it, not in a judgy sense, more admiring. It's fascinating to think about how every human has different experiences everyday. One had a bad day, the other had a good day. Someone was on their way to work, someone else to celebrate a success in life. That one person on a bicycle may be going through a similar thing as the person reading a book on a bench at the canal, without both of them being aware of the other's struggles.
It's such a strange concept, yet we are all a part of it.
