While the 'Honour Krone' was given to Jan Delay with a short movie of his career playing for everyone, my band and I dipped to the backstage area.

We only had to get our in-ears ready, the rest was already prepared. The instruments were tuned, the mics on and I had relaxed since I received my very first award. At the minimum, I tried to.

Donya, the lovely presenter of the night, held her speech to initiate our small show:
"Another artist who has the potential to win many more Kronen in the future is Lennon. With her melodic sounds and deep lyrics, she has caught the attention of many and we are lucky to have her here at the 1LIVE Krone 2023. Gladly, she agreed to perform for us once more, alone this time.
This song was number one in the charts for 6 weeks last year, you will definitely recognise it.
Please welcome Lennon and her band with her song 'Car Park'!"

The lights around the room spotted us on the stage. Myles counted with his drumsticks for a collective start.

I'm not waiting for you to arrive
Feels like most of the time we are dying
So I stare directly into the sun
It burns for a while
But nothing's worth more than our love

I focused a lot on my notes to stop my voice from shaking. My eyes were closed.

Call me what you want
But pick the right time
'Cause I might get too rough

A smile formed on my lips as I remembered the time I wrote this. I was confused and nervous about what to do next, what Joost and I's relationship would progress into.

Touch me to make it work
You level my head, you're a natural
Words only make it worse
I want you to cry at my funeral
This feels right, but are we fighting
The same side?

To answer my own question, yes we were.
We always were, without knowing.

Maybe if we were friends, it'd be fine
In no life I'd want that, so no I'm just lying
But I think I'm just tired of being in the dark
I swear I'm not like this, but it always gets worse
In the car park

The pre chorus and chorus repeated once more as I put more energy into it.

Call it what you want
Is it better if I fake it
Or tell you I feel nothing?

The bridge was so ambiguous that people could interpret what they wanted. I honestly couldn't tell you what exactly it meant either. I sang the last chorus and moved on to my outro.

I keep on thinking it'd be nice
To want, to want you all the time

I held the last note for a little longer, ending my song. My eyes slowly opened, taking in the applause. A wide grin flashed across my face. I thanked the crowd and joined my band going backstage.

More awards were given to Cro, Kraftklub and Aggu. A few talks filled the breaks in between.

During Aggu's category as 'Best Newcomer', Joost and Daan followed. They wanted to take the chance of speaking, in case their song didn't win the Krone.

"Everybody that doesn't have a home at home, all the kids who don't have a place in the society, I love you. We care about you, we only care about the kids. It's all about the kids. Für immer!", Joost declared, earning loud cheers.

He said what he needed to say, no doubt.

The 'Best Entertainment' Krone went to Tom and Bill Kaulitz, for their podcast. I've been listening to it since it got released, mainly to sleep and get my mind off of things. They were hilarious and icons.
