"Hello, prospective students! It's me again, Captain Canuck! Welcome to the city of... what was it called again?"
The intercom went quiet for a few moments before the hero's voice came back, "Block A-1377... a-anyway, this city has been overtaken by giant evil robots, oh no!! Some of them even took some victims hostage! Played by some of our great teachers, of course. Anyway, points are granted for destroying robots, more points gained for minimizing damage to the surrounding area, and also points are available for saving our hostages. Now uh, when you hear the horn, start your hero work. Ready..?" Captain Canuck began. A few seconds later, an incredibly loud airhorn sound went off.
"GOOOO!!!"
Immediately as everyone was racing ahead, a massive robot could be seen rounding a corner. It looked to be around three quarters of the size of the surrounding buildings. In an instant, the pink-haired girl from earlier launched herself towards it, using some sort of beam to propel herself towards it.
Sunny froze up in a panic as people around him started using their quirks to navigate the city. Meanwhile, he could do approximately nothing to go places faster.
He decided to activate Alter Ego. Thankfully, he had a good rest last night. Omori gets tired less easily compared to Sunny, so him navigating the city would only cause an issue if he went too far away.
Of course, that'd be solved by Sunny just following Omori as quickly as he could. He used to do running as his exercise, so this wouldn't be too hard. The real issue was making Omori cooperate.
"Hey." Sunny greeted the newly spawned Omori.
"I didn't expect you to actually–" A loud explosion-like sound cut off Omori's hectoring. Omori and Sunny both turned to the source. There was a robot turning the corner, its fist in the side of the building it was moving past. Its foot was only some meters away. "That's what they have you up against!? Holy shit... this is awesome! I thought this would be some lame track and field garbage, but this is sick! Outta my way, loser!"
Omori's excitement was surprising to Sunny, as he had never really seen him act this way. Omori was practically... never mind, literally drooling at the opportunity to destroy the robot before him. The drooling was discovered as Sunny felt some hit his face, to his dismay.
A few jumps between a building and the robot made Omori successfully scale the robot. He immediately punched the robot down into the ground. The robot looked a bit like a crushed soda can.
"Hurry up, sissy, we got more robots to beat up!" Omori announced, hopping off the side of one building onto the roof of another. Sunny tried following, unsure of exactly which way Omori went until the sound of another robot being taken down came from around the corner.
Sunny continued following, starting to get a little winded. "Hurry up, I found another one!" He shouted back at Sunny as he proceeded ahead.
Around the corner was Kel, somehow bounding off of the walls and attacking the robot repeatedly, making massive dents with each attack. Of course, Omori proceeded to obliterate its head. Then, hit the ground. "That's how it's done, numbskull. You behead the bot, it dies. Ramming your head into a wall is not a strategy."
Kel raised an eyebrow, "Sunny? Is that you?"
"No, that's my quirk, sorry, Kel!" Sunny shouted with an apologetic look.
"Huh!? Two Sunnies!?" Kel yelled incredulously. Evidently, the thing where Sunny said that was his quirk went over Kel's head.
Kel fell to the ground, landing on his back painfully. "Ow..." Kel groaned with pain. Suddenly, behind where Kel fell, Sunny noticed one of the heroes tied up.
Number 10 on the country's top hero list, it was Antimatter. He obviously was in no danger, being bound by regular rope. Anything that he touched and knew the exact composition of, he could obliterate, along with anything of the same materials within a certain range. A range he keeps private so as not to reveal his hand to criminals.
Honestly, Sunny was a bit of a fan of his. His power was cool, and he worked as more of a support hero than a flashy offense hero.
It made it so that despite being number 10, he wasn't a super popular overhyped hero. People knew his name, sure, but they weren't calling him their favourite hero.
Sunny was one of the rare ones who did. Regardless, all of that backstory for Sunny's fanboyism was just to explain his next actions. He ran over to the "hostage" and tried to free him.
He was then hit in the back of the head with a hollow pipe. Sunny fell over. He didn't quite pass out, but he did get pretty dizzied by the hit.
The worst part was that the normal-sized robot was raising the pipe to hit him again. Sunny was embarrassing himself in front of Antimatter... he dodged out of the way quickly, then got to his feet. Another swing, which Sunny blocked with his arm. It kinda hurt, but he kicked the robot in the torso to counter, knocking the robot over. The robot, unfortunately for it, could not get back up with its little Roomba-style wheels as its legs.
Sunny sighed with relief as he felt Alter Ego return to him, having strayed too far from Sunny. "Are you okay, Antimatter!?" Sunny asked as he untied his favourite hero. He felt a bit stupid asking. The man's mouth now visible after being ungagged. He spoke with a smile.
"Don't worry, kid, I'm just fine. Just focus on your exam." His entire face was usually obscured by a black mist, but his mouth was now visible as he was hanging upside down. Sunny unchained Antimatter's feet, and the boy tried to keep Antimatter from hitting the ground by holding him up. It didn't work, as he was too weak.
"Ow... I guess I should've been a little more prepared, haha..." Antimatter joked. Sunny felt like he would die of embarrassment.
Sunny decided the best option was to just get out of here and summon Alter Ego again. "Sorry, Antimatter, sir, I'll uh... I have to go!"
"Good luck on the test, bud!" Antimatter shouted as Sunny left and activated Omori again.
"You're so damn slow! You ruined my attack, remember to follow me, dumbass!" Omori said with irritation as he bounded away.
Immediately, Sunny began to protest. "Don't call me a dumbass, I had to do something so I could get more points on this exam!" He said with some irritation.
"Whatever, just don't get in my way again. This is for your sake and my amusement. Don't fuck this up again." Omori warned. Sunny didn't have much choice but to try and obey the best he could.
