"See this?" Captain Canuck held up what looked to be a shot put ball. "Japanese technology. You just throw it, and this app on my phone will tell me how far it went."

Sunny winced. If they were going to be grading them on their strength, then Sunny would surely lose. "Here, allow me to demonstrate," Captain Canuck threw the ball up in the air, then kicked it midair, making it have a trail of ice as it launched far across the baseball diamond.

Everyone watched as the ball seemed to hit the back fence of the diamond, too far away to be able to tell for sure. Sunny was able to look back at Captain Canuck in time to see him holding his foot in pain. Shot put balls are heavy.

He quickly adjusted to looking like nothing happened and checked his phone. "Looks like I got one twenty-six point five meters. Not bad, eh?"

"You used your quirk..." The blue haired girl muttered.

"Uh, yeah, it's a school for being a hero. You're gonna use your quirks. This is your chance. It's like track and field day, but you can use your quirks. Fun, eh?" Captain Canuck replied, probably winking, though his black visor blocked vision of his eyes.

"But what about if we don't have quirks that can help us with this stuff?" The kid that was wearing headphones earlier asked.

"Good question, Rai! The answer is, you do your best! This is more for fun and to see what quirks you have than for any sort of grading. If you don't have flashy or action-y quirks, that's just fine. You'll get your chance to shine tomorrow when we go over quirk mechanics. I thought doing this would just be a good way to spend our first class!" Captain Canuck went on his signature useless rambling. He did that whenever he was nervous. Sunny knew since he was rambling the same way when he told Sunny and his mother about his failure to find any information on the attacker.

Some heroes in this world were just as filthy as villains but just soaked up the limelight as though they helped anyone. Sunny despised those people.

"Sunny! Since you're the one who suggested we get out of the classroom, how about you start us off?" Captain Canuck said, tossing Sunny a shot put ball.

Sunny caught it, almost dropping the shot put due to its weight. He held it up and sighed. Captain Canuck was apparently one of the judges watching the exam. He would know how uncooperative Omori was. This was clearly just done to humiliate him.

Still, he might as well try.

Alter Ego activated, and Omori was promptly made to appear from the black fluid that flowed from Sunny's arms. As usual for when he activated his quirk.

"What? Why am I here, now? Isn't it your first day at school..?" Omori asked rhetorically as he looked around.

"Throw this ball as far as you can. One-handed, like in shot put." Sunny requested.

Omori seemed to not think much of it and picked up the ball. "Like shot put? Okay, I guess." He spun around in a circle and threw the ball as far as he could. It reminded Sunny of those Olympic shot put players. Omori must've taken pointers. "Wait, was that a thing you were supposed to do for school?" Omori asked with suspicion cast onto Sunny.

"Sixty-seven meters. Pretty damn good."

One by one, others began to throw the shot puts. Each of them had very different results, some able to use their quirks to improve their scores, others being forced to just toss the ball really hard.

"I knew drinking all that Orange Joe this morning was worth it!" Kel proclaimed as his turn ended. He watched as Aubrey used a pink beam to launch the ball extremely far into the sky.

"128 meters. Good work, Aubrey!" Captain Canuck smiled at the group who was now all chatting and waiting, none left to wait their turn for shot put. "Now, don't get too comfortable. I meant it when I said track and field. We're going through it all. Follow me, everyone, to the long jump!"

Kel looked a bit sad, "Aw man, I used a bunch of calories on the shot put, I dunno if I'll have enough to do this good-ly," he said with grammatical inaccuracy.

After a short walk from the baseball diamond, they arrived at the long jump track. Instead of getting started immediately, though, Captain Canuck started yammering.

"Now, obviously, I... uh... kinda just decided to do this out of the blue. So uh... nobody knows we're out here. Anyway, I should probably do what I was supposed to do according to my notes right now, but I kinda wanted to see your quirks and stuff before I jumped this assignment on you," Captain Canuck rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "So, basically, you're gonna write down what being a hero means to you, and then read it to the class."

"Oh, that's so easy! Being a hero is helping people in any way you can! That's what my brother did! After... uh..." Kel trailed off. This made Sunny think... Kel kind of looked like Mari's old boyfriend. The resemblance was pretty obvious, in hindsight, sharing the same sort of nose shape, skin colour, eye colour, hair colour, even their eyes had the same shape.

His brother... something happened he didn't want to talk about, and that made him want to help people in any way he could... he had to be Hero's brother.

Yes, as funny of a name as it was, that was his actual name. Or at least, as far as Sunny knew. The guy didn't speak to him that much, and nobody ever called him something other than Hero, so he never asked.

As Captain Canuck was explaining the obvious rules of long jump and triple jump, Sunny leaned over to Kel and whispered. "Is your brother named Hero?"

Kel looked at Sunny immediately with surprise. "Yo, how'd you know?" He asked with incredulity.

"He was my sister's boyfriend." Sunny explained, remaining calm despite everything going through his head. Sunny couldn't help but look back to Basil a few times to make sure he was okay. Obviously, he was.

"Sunny, come up and do long jump!" Captain Canuck shouted.

Sunny sighed and walked away to the long jump. "Remember, you have to be what touches the ground, so unless you get your little friend to toss you, you gotta do the jump yourself." He explained with a smirk.

This pissed Sunny off, especially since he knew he couldn't have Omori help him at all. Omori couldn't carry him even if he wanted to, since they can't touch. The parts of Omori that would touch Sunny just instantly disappear. This was discovered when they had their first fight when Sunny was a kid. Omori went to punch Sunny, but his fist vanished. Then, it reformed as Omori pulled his arm away.

Sunny sighed and ran up to the sand pit and jumped, as one is meant to during long jump. He landed quite far in since he had some good jumping strength and great speed.

Of course, it was probably nothing compared to what the others would be capable of when using quirks. "Nice! Alright, Charlie, you're next!" Captain Canuck called out. The massive girl standing next to Kel moved on ahead, as Sunny took his place next to Kel again. He normally would have walked right up next to Basil, but he was in the middle of a conversation.

"Man, I'm sorry about reminding you of that, I didn't mean to..." Kel apologized with a look of pity in his eyes.

Sunny didn't want pity, so he decided to ask about Kel's brother to make the topic move on from how shitty Sunny's life was. "I haven't seen Hero for a while, obviously. How has he been?"

"Ah, he was depressed for a year or so, didn't even do school, but then, he suddenly became really focused on school and was able to leave for university a year early!" Kel said with a starry-eyed expression. He seemed to find his brother quite incredible.

"Huh. What does your brother study?" Sunny asked, now actually a little curious. Sunny wasn't facing Kel as he asked, as he was watching Basil perform his long jump. He fell onto his backside when he landed on his feet, but he laughed it off.

"Oh, he's real incredible. Like I said, really has a drive to help others. That's why he's becoming a doctor!"
