It had been just a few days, and today was finally the first day of "school" at the Institute. KIH was one of the few "hero school" styled institutions to have a reputable education program. Others were places like Vancouver Public Hero School or École des Héros et de Fabrication de Montréal... both real mouthfuls. They were the only places you could expect to get actual education along with your usual hero training. If you wanted to do something with your life beyond hero work, which most people did, you would have to go to one of those two schools, or KIH.

Because of this, Sunny knew that fortunately for his future, and unfortunately for his brain, he'd be having homework. Hopefully, none for the first week, he crossed his fingers.

As he entered the classroom, there was immediate disorder, as to be expected from a classroom of 16 year olds with no teacher. "You two, cut that shit out! Nobody wants to see you butting heads on the first day. You're making fools of yourselves!" A girl Sunny hadn't seen before shouted. It seemed to be directed at Aubrey and Kel, who were literally butting heads, having their heads pressed against each other, each with indignant expressions.

"It's not my fault he's such a dumbass that he spilled his stupid soda on my new notebook!" Aubrey shouted, acting about as normal as Sunny expected.

Kel was upset by this riff on his soda, and he countered, "Hey, you're the one who bumped into my desk! And it's NOT a stupid soda. It's Orange Joe! Big difference!"

"It's literally the off-brand Fanta they sell at the convenience store down the street!" She rebuked, rather loudly, might I add.

A kid in the back with full-on yellow hair... not blonde, but a bright, blinding yellow... piped up, "You know, I think if you asked around for if anyone had a quirk to dry off your notebook-" He smirked as if he knew someone very specific who had a quirk which could do that.

"Shut up, Mikhael!" The two shouted simultaneously at him before resuming their argument.

Sunny sighed and took a seat next to Basil. "Rough group, huh?" Basil said with a subdued smile.

"No kidding." Sunny replied with a slight frown. He looked around at the other kids. The yellow haired one was talking to another kid with brown hair who was sitting on top of his desk instead of in a seat. Better than Aubrey and Kel, who were standing on their chairs, with the brown haired girl with glasses from before sitting at the desk next to them with her hand on her forehead.

Looking back at the back row, on the opposite side of the room to the kid named "Mikhael" was a larger girl. Larger in both ways, as she was almost as wide as two Sunnies, and was as tall as the door... sitting down.

Sunny made sure to make note to not get on her bad side, or he'd probably be squashed like a bug.

The row ahead of those three had Aubrey, Kel, and Kim, all still active, and a boy reading manga next to them. He was the prettiest... no, wait, the second prettiest boy he had ever seen.

Sunny then looked to see if anyone else was occupying the row he was in, besides the prettiest boy he had ever seen, Basil. There was a girl beside Basil with black hair and big glasses, scribbling away at something in a sketchbook.

In the row in front of Sunny, there was a full row of another four people. It was also the last row of desks Sunny had to worry about. There was a muscular guy in the first seat, blonde hair, couldn't tell much about him since he was facing away.

The girl next to him was not facing away. She seemed to be trying to see something or someone in the back of the class. Sunny double-checked to make sure she wasn't looking at Basil with those ga-ga eyes. She wasn't. Good. Basil was not for her.

Sunny pretended he didn't just think something really possessive and looked at the next person. A guy this time, he had messy hair and was wearing headphones. Sunny sort of wished he had brought a pair. This ruckus was nigh intolerable.

Finally was a girl with light blue hair. She didn't seem that noteworthy, especially since she was in front of him and he couldn't see much about her. She seemed to be doing something on her desk, but once again, Sunny couldn't tell. Sunny was mid-thought, thinking about Basil, as usual, when the door suddenly opened. The room went quiet as they saw who it was who entered the room.

Captain Canuck slowly and dramatically made his way to the front of the classroom. It was clear to Sunny that he was relishing in the attention. "That's right, Captain Canuck is YOUR homeroom teacher. Wabam!" He struck a pose, and the classroom erupted into chatter and cheers.

Even Basil fell for it, shouting out, "Yeah!" with both fists up in the air. Sunny sighed and frowned as he looked at the idiot in the front of the classroom. He was getting pissed off as he just kept striking new poses, acting like he was hot shit.

"Are we gonna do anything today, or are we just supposed to ogle at you?" Sunny shouted out. He sort of regretted it when everyone stopped talking and looked at him, but his anger kept him from feeling embarrassed for now.

"Ooo, eager to learn, are we? Well, let's get started, then." Captain Canuck said, playing off the jab at him. He had everyone line up and follow him outside of the main building.

"So you see, guys, I'm gonna be homeroom, and also hero studies. And I don't mean lame-o history of heroes, famous heroes around the world, booo-riiing. I mean, you get to 'studies' how to be a 'hero,'" Captain Canuck said, sounding really dumb to Sunny, "My class will be the 'most important' class in your whole damn school career! With me, you'll train your quirks, learn your limits, and then learn how to punch those limits in the face!"

Captain Canuck finally came to a stop in the middle of what looked sort of like a baseball diamond. "And it all starts here."
