"Looks like a compression fracture. Should only take a few minutes for me to heal and a couple bottles of water," Dr. Hendrik said as a flow of hazy red fog-like light flowed from his hands into Basil's back.

"Wow... what an incredible quirk..." Sunny muttered in awe.

"Can I help you?" Dr. Hendrik asked, "You've been following me around since I brought this boy to my office."

The sudden question made Sunny gasp with realization, "Oh! Right, sorry, I'm his best friend, I'm just really worried."

"Hm," the doctor hummed, "Sounds like an excuse to skip the 'no-fun' classes, but whatever." He began searching through a medicine cabinet with his free hand.

"So, uh... Dr. Hendrik..." Sunny began, trying to keep the awkward silence from taking over, "Are you german..?"

"Do I sound Canadian to you?" Dr. Hendrik asked, seemingly making his accent slightly stronger to make a point, "But yes, both of my parents were German. I was born here, but I partly inherited their accent. If you really want to talk about something, try a less insipid topic, please. I'm stuck here until the patient has been healed in another few minutes, and I'd prefer not to idly chat about something like the weather."

This made Sunny feel a bit embarrassed. He did ask a pretty stupid question in hindsight, "Okay... uh... did you go to KIH, too?"

"I'm sure this will surprise you, but yes. I was once a hero, too. 'Doctor Defier' was the name I went with. It sounds a bit ridiculous looking back on it." Dr. Hendrik reminisced.

"No way, that name is so cool! Why did you quit being a hero!?" Sunny said in shock.

The doctor sighed and placed the medicine he finally found onto the table, which Basil was lain upon. He had passed out from pain way before Dr. Hendrik started healing him.

"Well, because I wanted to be a real doctor. I just couldn't pay for medical school, and unlike most post-secondary schools, the institute was exclusively scholarship-based, where you'd get in on merit and ability, and not money," Dr. Hendrik said as he suddenly stopped using his quirk on Basil and grabbed a bottle of water.

Now that Sunny wasn't busy worrying about Basil or making conversation, he noticed there were a lot of water bottles in the room. Like, most of the walls' shelves were lined with bottles of water.

"What's with all the water?" Sunny asked the doctor as he was busy finishing off the water bottle.

"My quirk uses my body's water to heal. I need it to keep using my quirk." Dr. Hendrik said after finishing off his bottle. He crushed the plastic disposable in his hands, screwed back on the cap, and threw it into a garbage bin near the doors. "He'll probably wake up soon. When he does, he'll have some residual pain for a while, so he might want to take some of this ibuprofen."

"Why are you telling me? Are you going somewhere?" Sunny questioned the doctor.

In return, he nodded. "Yes, I'm going to the office to tell his teachers and parents to avoid undue strain to his back for the next week as it concludes the healing process in ways my quirk cannot expedite." With that, Dr. Hendrik went out the door and down to the office.

A few moments after he had left the room, Sunny noticed Basil stirring. Sunny rushed back to Basil's bed and looked over him.

Soon enough, Basil's eyes fluttered open, and he looked to his left at Sunny. "S-Sunny..? Ow..." Basil tried turning himself over from laying on his stomach as he mumbled in pain. Sunny reacted quickly as Basil accidentally knocked the pill bottle of ibuprofen off of his bed. He was able to catch it just in time and handed it to Basil, who was uncomfortably balancing on his lower back, as his upper back was still in pain.

Basil read the bottle and then opened it, pouring out two pills into his left hand. Sunny moved to get water, but Basil just threw them in his mouth and swallowed. "Uh... I guess you didn't need water."

"No, I'm used to taking pills," Basil said, not revealing what exactly that meant.

"Well, I guess we should get to class now... er... wait, can you walk?" Sunny asked as he helped Basil off his carrier.

Dell looked on as an ex-hybrid stood up from the seat where they were testing their new machine. "Can you walk?" asked Herring.

"Y-Yeah! And I can breathe clearly now, too! No more gills!" The man shouted with joy. He looked down at his hands. "No scales, either! You guys are life-savers!"

"It was no problem at all. Feel free to tell your friends, just no cops. We have plenty of testing to do," Dell calmly replied to the ex-shark hybrid.

"Absolutely, I will, I will! Thank you!" The man quickly rushed out of the room and likely, out of the bar. He seemed overjoyed.

Dell, on the other hand, was very curious. "Biran. Look at the transfer fluid." Biran, who was standing in the corner of the room, stopped leaning against the wall and walked around the machine to the front. His eyes widened, and his lips slightly parted as he saw.

The fluid was glowing. "That's not normal, I'd assume?" asked Herring.

Dell shook his head. "Nope. I have a good theory as to what it means, though. Take that fluid out, and make a replacement, Biran. I have to make something. Herring, do you have anywhere that we could grab a corpse, or will we need to do some gravedigging?"

Herring sighed, "Unless you want me to break into a morgue, we'll have to just dig up someone. Why do we need a corpse anyway?"

The bespectacled man pushed his glasses up, "It's complicated. Just get me a body, alright? The more recent the better. I have a new plan."
