Chapter 9

Mikkaella's POV.

It has been THREE WEEKS. and the date? It was awkward at first but it turns out, Kiefer wasn't just my idol anymore. He's something more... Eto. Kkwento ko sa inyo kung paano niya ako napasagot sa offer niya at kung paano ako naging headline ng school naming for days.

*Flashbaaaaaaaaaaaack. Three effin' weeks ago.*

*Inside the car*

"Mikkaella, bakit ka ba lutang ngayon?" He asked. Teka lang. Parang masyadong concerned ata itong si Mr. Ignore-Mikka-for-weeks. Bipolar alert.

"Wala, wala. Sadyang ganun lang talaga ako." It's true. Lutang talaga ako nug mga moment na yun. Kasi naman. Kamalas talaga ng araw na 'to. Akalain mo! Magkakilala pala sila nung mokong na nakabangga sa'kin. Magkakasama na nga talaga ang mga isinumpa sa mundo.

And just when I thought that my day's gonna get worse, Mr. Ignore-Mikka-for-weeks shocked me with his next question:

"Um, can we hangout on Saturday? Kung di ka busy." He shifted in his seat.

He said what? The world is spinning right now. Tama ba yung narinig ko? It took me a moment to process the information he has given me. Ako? I'm being asked by a Basketball Superstar, who happens to be my number one idol, on a date? Ay. We're gonna hangout lang pala. Masyado ka namang advanced, Mikkaella. Kalma lang.

He must be waiting for my answer because he was about to rephrase the question when I replied:

"Um. Tayong dalawa? I'll see." I shyly answered.

"Um Sige. You can ask Jen and Nico if you want, though." He offered. Oh gosh. Thank goodness nasa tapat na kami ng bahay. Otherwise, I really have to accept the offer. I still have the night to think about it. Thank You, Monkeys!

"Um sige. Dito na ako. Thanks ulit. Ingat sa paguwi." I went out and closed the door.

Haay. I have to tell Jen.

"ANO?! KIEFER ASKED YOU TO HANGOUT AND YOU JUST SAID 'I'LL SEE'?! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" Yep. You've guessed it. That is my Psychopathic, Totally Loud, Annoying and Ignorant bestfriend. I love her still though.

"Eh. I didn't want to agree kagad. Malay mo. It's a setup lang pala. Nadala na ako sa ginawa nyo ng boyfriend mo ano?" Katwiran ko.

"What? Si Kiefer, lolokohin ka? anokaba! Masyado kang Negaaaaa! Tska, hindi setup yung sa EK! Sus. Choosy ka pa jan. Dream come True yan! Choosy neto. Hmp."

"I am not choosy. Guarded lang. Eto naman oh. Alam mo namang... Basta."

"Bestieeeee, Wag ka na maging guarded. Kung talagang naka-move on ka na jan kay Santiago, di o itu-turn down yang offer sa'yo ni Kief." She said. Frustrated, I sighed and hung up. Nako, Mikka. You don't have to answer him immediately. You still need to think.

*The Next Morning..*

Lunch break namin ng biglang dumating ang ecstatic na boyfriend ni Jen. And just like his girlfriend, Nico bombarded me with tons of questions.

"Mikkabell, Kiefer told me na inaya ka daw niya makipaghangout sa kanya? Ano? Pumayag ka na ba? Kilan mo sasabihin sa kanya na pumayag ka na? Saan ka----"

"Woah. Teka lang. Hindi pa nga ako nagde-decide pinapangunahan mo ako kaagad. Tska, I'm thinking about turning him down." I am greeted with two shocked faces and an open mouth.

"WHAT?! ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND, MIKKAELLA ISABELL?!" Sabay nilang sinabi.

"Who's turning me down?" Nanlamig ang buong katawan ko nang nakita kong si Kiefer Ravena na pala ang sumunod nanagsalita sa aming tatlo.

"Mikkabell, Are you turning down my offer?" Tinitigan niya ko with puppy eyes while sipping his milkshake.

"Yiieeeeeee. Puppy eyes." Pang-aasar ni Nico habang ginagaya ang mukha ni Kiefer ngayon. Useless, since no one can do whatever Kiefer's doing right now.

At dahil nga may gwapong nilalang sa harapan ko, the decision I made earlier was starting to crumble. I mean, Who can resist those big, brown eyes! No one, right? Ugh.

I let out a frustrated sigh and walked away; not sure where I'm headed. Basta. Kung saan malayo sa mata ni Kiefer Ravena.

"Mikka, Wait." He called out. Hindi ko siya pinansin at nagpatuloy sa paglalakad. At dahil long-legged ang aking pursuer, naabutan niya kaagad ako sa entrance ng building namin, sa may steps. Hinila niya ako sa kamay and I spun to look at him.

"Bakit mo ako iniiwasan?" He asked. And then, people showed up. They stood there watching us. Probably wondering why this basketball superstar is talking to me. Judging by the distance between us, mejo malapit sa akin si Kiefer. He turned and was glad that there were a lot of people watching us. He grinned hugely and looked at me. Natawa siya dahil nakita niya na nagulat ako kasi napansin paa kami ng mga tao. Oh gosh. Please spare me from humiliation.

"Umm. Wala. Kasi baka malate na ako. Matatapos na kaya lunch break." I said. Hindi ako tumitingin sa kanya habang nagsasalita. He has this expression in his face. It's a cross between amusement and mischief.

He took one step closer and I squirmed; trying to get away from those eyes. Halatang natutuwa siya nang Makita niya yung effect niya sa'kin. I can't believe my body betrayed my mind. I'm supposed to stand firm and here I am cowardly squirming away from the boy I seriously idolize. Or not?

"Eh bakit lumalay ka sa'kin pag nilalapitan kita? Bakit hindi ka tumitingin sa'kin pag nagsasalita ka? Nagtatanong lang naman ako kanina ah. Bakit ka tumakbo?" He had too many questions. And with his face inches from mine, I can't comprehend what he said earlier.

"Oh. Bakit hindi ka makapagsalita ngayon?" He smirked then chuckled softly. Dumami ang audience. Nako po. Intriga na naman 'to. I'll be the front page of our schools website. Again. Ugh.

To my relief, the bell rung, stating that we should be going to our classrooms now. Pero, bakit ganun? Hindi pa rin umaaalis yung mga tao. I saw Jen and Nico sa may side. All of them are waiting for my answer. But I can't speak. Bigla ata akong napaos. Hindi pwede. Mapapahiya ako nito. OMG. HELP!

The final bell rung and yun. Di pa nawala yung audience. Kiefer laughed and said:

"Okay then. I'll pick you up at seven." He smiled at me and squeezed my hand. The crowd erupted. They were ecstatic. Parang koreanovela I can hear hoots and shouts everywhere.

"WOOOH! Mikkaella and Kiefer!"

"Ang swerte mo, Mikkabell!"

I searched for Jen and Nico and saw Nico laughing his head off.

Nahihilo ako. I don't know. I started walking to m next class with a dizzy head and a screaming heart rate.

What a way to ask a girl on a date. You win this round, Ravena.
