I sit up, glancing around in confusion. Why am I back with the x-men? Maybe Scarlett knocked me out and this is a weird dream I'm having while unconscious. I shake my head, rubbing my eyes. I get out of my bed, walking slowly out of my room.
"Storm!" Scarlett exclaims, racing over to me. She hugs me tightly, I hug her back, not caring about what happened.
"I thought I'd lost you" I say, tears forming in my eyes, but I blink them back quickly. I wasn't sure if I'd ever hug Scarlett again. I don't know what brought on this change but I'm not going to risk anything by questioning it.
"Lost me? You're the one who was hurt" Scarlett frowns, stepping back slightly and looking me up and down. "Come on, there's people who want to see you." I follow Scarlett down the hallway, frowning.
Scarlett knocks on a dorm door and I smile, I know what we're doing. Ashton opens the door, his blond hair messy and his blue eyes light. He smiles as he sees me and embraces me. Henry and Ashton's dorm is certainly a place I was sure I would never see again, let alone this soon.
I walk inside and over towards Henry. I pull him in for a hug, smiling as a warm feeling creeps into my chest. This is right, this is how it's supposed to be.
"You gave us quite the scare last night" Henry says, raising an eyebrow as he studies me. "Though you seem fine."
I realise what they're referring to, a mission I was sent on with Scarlett when I was twelve. We ended up stranded in a forest and ended up getting attacked by a weird robot wolf creature, something the government created to hunt down x-men before the x-men rose up and took over. I attempted to burn the robot, but it ended up somehow copying my powers and using them against me – luckily the robot wasn't smart enough to realise I heal very quickly when it comes to heat related injuries. My burn marks are already gone.
"I just needed to rest" I say, sitting down on the floor with my back against the wall. Ashton sits down next to me, Henry and Scarlett sit on Henry's bed. I hide a smile as Henry places his arm around Scarlett's shoulder, Henry's had a crush on Scarlett for as long as I can remember, and I think Scarlett is starting to return his feelings.
"What do we want to do today? None of us are being sent on a mission for once" Ashton points out, it's been a couple of months since we all had a day with nothing to do, we don't even have training or classes on.
A glimmer comes into my eyes. "We could go to the lake" I say, there's a lake nearby, only a twenty-minute walk from here, we used to go frequently to swim and have fun, but we haven't had a chance to go there lately.
The lake has to be one of my favourite spots, the water is so blue, and everything is still and peaceful. It's an amazing place to relax and collect your thoughts, on the days before a mission I usually find myself wandering down there.
Within an hour, the four of us have arrived. I smile, I wasn't sure if I'd be back here anytime soon. Everything has changed recently, but I'm not questioning what today is, I can't risk losing one of my happiest days.
"Race you!" Ashton shouts, sprinting towards the lake. I begin sprinting as fast as I can, smiling as the wind blows my hair around. I reach the water at the same time as Ashton, who begins to splash me.
"Hey!" I complain, splashing Ashton. I shake my brown hair, pushing it out of my face and over my shoulder. Scarlett and Henry quickly join us, Henry quickly grabs Scarlett and pushes her down into the water.
"Henry!" Scarlett exclaims, laughing as she jumps on top of Henry and forces him underwater. I laugh as I watch the two, wondering when they'll realise they like each other, I can imagine the two being more than friends.
I focus on lifting the water up, causing a water bubble to hit the back of Scarlett's head. "Hey, no powers" Scarlett complains, flipping me the bird.
I shriek as Ashton grabs me and dunks me underwater. Refusing to go down alone, I pull onto Ashton, forcing him down with me, now all of us are wet.
I stand up, blinking the water out of my eyes. Ashton has started chasing Henry in an attempt to push him underwater, Scarlett comes over to me.
"I miss these days" Scarlett says wistfully, a sad look appearing in her blue eyes. She glances at Ashton and Henry. "God, I wish this didn't have to end, Ms. Stark."
My mouth goes dry, Scarlett shouldn't know this yet. I didn't even know this yet. "What did you call me?" My entire body has tensed, waiting for whatever Scarlett says next.
"All things come to an end, I just really hoped this wouldn't end" Scarlett says, she sighs and glances away from me for a second, just a second, then her eyes narrow as she stares directly at me. "But it has."
"Scarlett-"
I scream as Scarlett transforms into a white wolf, pushing me underwater. I gasp for air, my power not working as I'm forced to choke on water, my chest tightening as I resist the urge to cough. My heart is pounding, why can't I breathe underwater anymore?
*Author's Note* The fact Storm would do anything for Scarlett, and now they're on seperate sides ):
